Unlocking the Manufacturing Industry: A Study Tour in Ho Chi Minh City with University of Cambridge delegation

April 27, 2023

An inspirational writing by Nguyen Xuan Huy, a CBM student, VinUniversity

During my 2 days in Ho Chi Minh City under the Study Tour programme with the delegation from the Institute for Manufacturing, University of Cambridge (UK), I had the valuable opportunity to visit 4 large and modern factories of 4 famous companies, respectively: Schneider Electric, Intel, Suntory Pepsico Vietnam Beverage, and Spatronics. As a student majoring in Business Administration, my perspective on the manufacturing industry is limited. Therefore, this journey enabled me to have a better understanding of the manufacturing sector as a whole, including how a plant runs, how the management is organized there, the working conditions for its employees, and many other facets of this enormous sector. What I learned the most and that kept me interested during the visits was how the factory built a dashboard to update progress and control the operation of the entire factory. Besides, the sharing from the managers and workers here has inspired me a lot and I had good impressions about an industry that was unfamiliar to me before.

Visiting Intel Vietnam & Suntory Pepsico Vietnam Beverage

We also learned a lot from the University of Cambridge’s professors and students throughout the trip, including information on production and distinctive cultural traits from many other nations. They are really interested, eager to learn, and always cautious in their explanations to our first- and second-year students about the specific manufacturing expertise that is completely unfamiliar to us.

Exchanging knowledge with University of Cambridge’s Professors & students

This trip is very memorable for me also because this is my first time on a plane ^^ Thanks VinUniversity for this opportunity and I hope that I can join more study tours to learn and meet wonderful people.
