On September 29th, the College of Business Management (CBM) held the appointment ceremony of 02 Academic Chairs, who are well-respected professors in their respective fields, and 02 Industry Chairs, who are industry leaders, entrepreneurs as well as strong advocates for education and nurturing talents. This demonstrates VinUniversity’s commitment to developing real-world talents, not only following the highest international educational standards, but also keeping up with current market demands.
1. Industry Chair of Marketing Major: Dr. Le Quoc Vinh – Chairman & CEO, Le Group of Companies
Le Group is considered as one of the leading organizations in Vietnam in the fields of publishing, journalism, communication, marketing, public relations and event organization. Mr. Le Quoc Vinh is also a founding member and member of the Board of Directors of Fansipan Media Corporation, the investor and direct operator of Entertainment TV channel.
2. Academic Chair of Marketing Major: Prof. Werner H. Kunz – Professor of Marketing, University of Massachusetts Boston
Currently, Prof. Werner H. Kunz is working as Professor of Marketing at the University of Massachusetts Boston. He also holds other positions such as the Director of the Digital Media Lab at UMass Boston, Chair of the American Marketing Association (AMA) Special Interest Group on Service Marketing (ServSIG). He participates in many consulting projects and executive teaching courses on brand building, innovation, and service and quality management for private and public sector organizations. Aside from academic activities, Professor Kunz is a social media expert with regular nationwide appearances on TV and newspapers.
3. Industry Chair of Business Analytics Major: Dr. Hung Tran – Founder of Got It, Inc.
A self-described scientist turned entrepreneur with a passion for leveraging AI Technologies in Education and Knowledge Sharing, Dr Hung Tran completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science with a focus on AI/Data Mining and Big Data Analytics from the University of Iowa. He is the Founder of Got It, Inc., a Silicon Valley-based tech startup, Founder of STEAM for Vietnam Foundation, Leader of the Vietnam OpenCourseWare Project with MIT and Rice University, and Member of the Advisory Group for Vietnam Prime Minister’s National Committee on Education and Training Reform.
4. Academic Chair of Operations and Supply Chain Management Major: Prof. Rohit Verma – Founding Provost of VinUniversity
Prof. Rohit Verma is the Professor of Operations Technology and Information Management at the School of Hotel Administration, Cornell University. Before becoming the Founding Provost of VinUniversity, Prof. Verma was the Dean of External Relations for Cornell SC Johnson College of Business (May 2016 – June 2019), Singapore Tourism Board Distinguished Professor (January 2014 – June 2019); Executive Director of Cornell Institute for Healthy Futures (July 2015 – June 2018); and Executive Director of Cornell Center for Hospitality Research (July 2009 – June 2012).
