“Mentors will come when you start pursuing your goal!”
Tran Huong Lan, a vibrant and lively personality, has now completed her second year in Computer Science (College of Engineering and Computer Science) at VinUni. Always upholding a learning spirit, dogged perseverance, and patience, Lan has achieved many impressive achievements after 2 years of study. Most recently, she participated in a project titled “Wastewater epidemiological surveillance in Vietnam”, under the guidance of Professors from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and VinUniversity.
Reflecting on the most interesting thing she has learned in the past two years, Lan said: “There was a time when I asked my professor about Research Integrity, I then received such a thoughtful, dedicated, and well-explained answer that he must have spent a lot of time on it. Another time my friend consulted her Academic Advisor about career orientation and gained many valuable insights. I always remind myself that VinUni faculty are wholesome, and the door of opportunity will open only when I am willing to learn. The mentors will come when I start pursuing my goals.”
Lan was not only impressed by the dedicated teaching faculty but also inspired by her talented peers at VinUni. “VinUnians have a dogged determination to pursue their hobbies and passions. The first thing everybody has been asking each other lately is “What are you going to do in the summer?”, “What is your plan for the next academic year?”, “Do you plan for an exchange program?” – Lan shared.
