Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and VinUni have established partnerships in various areas of collaboration and recently signed the extended student exchange agreement under university wide. We are delighted to inform you of exciting summer exchange programs at HKUST in Summer 2025.
The application for HKUST Summer School & Summer UG Research Program 2025 is now OPEN for full-time VinUni students with the details as follows:
- HKUST Summer Exchange Program (HKUST Summer School)
Program Period
The HKUST Summer School is a credit-bearing, course-taking program. It consists of two 4-week Sessions. Courses are offered in either Session 1 or 2, bounded by the class dates of the respective Session. Students can join one Session or both.

Courses
Course list can be found on page 3 of the attached HKUST Summer School pamphlet. Students enrolling in one Session can take 1-2 courses, while students enrolling in two Sessions can take maximum 3 courses. HKUST will provide a transcript upon program completion. - HKUST Summer UG Research Program
The HKUST Summer UG Research Program is a research placement for students who are passionate about doing research and would love the opportunity to work alongside HKUST faculty on research projects. This hands-on experience will allow them to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios, develop research skills, and contribute to meaningful work in their field of interest. Additionally, it fosters mentorship relationships, helping students navigate their academic paths while enhancing their resumes with valuable research experience. Program Period
The HKUST Summer UG Research Program lasts 8 weeks and students will be enrolled in a 3-credit HKUST research course.

Eligibility
- Currently be an active full-time student at VinUni.
- Have good academic standing at least 2.5 CGPA (cumulative grade point average minimum) at the point of application and meet the minimum academic requirements set by the host university.
- Have no major disciplinary action (Level 3 and up) at the time of application submission.
- Have completed at least 2 academic semesters at VinUni prior to the OSEP and after the OSEP have at least one academic semester remaining at VinUni before graduation. All students of Cohorts 2022, 2023 are eligible to apply.
- Have an account of good financial standing at VinUni.
- Meet all the minimum requirements including the language requirements set by the host institutions.

- Your full commitment to attending the entire program duration is crucial if you are selected. Expenses/Financial support
- VinUni students joining this outbound student exchange program will not have to pay the tuition fees to the host university but continue to pay the tuition fee to VinUni during the exchange program.
- Students will need to take care of the travel, visa, accommodation, insurance and personal living expenses and any administration and facility access fees required by the host universities.
- Nominated students can have a chance to apply for the Global Exchange Student Ambassador (GESA) grant. The call for the grant will be announced by the VinUni Financial Aid Office (FAO) later. VinUni students should proactively reach out to external scholarship support to apply for the student exchange programs as needed.

- Step 6: Nominated students submit their applications to HKUST following their application process.
- Step 7: HKUST review the nominations/applications, makes the final decision, and issues the Letter.

- Academic Excellence: A strong academic record proven by GPA and any academic achievements.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV): A detailed CV highlighting your academic achievements, extracurricular activities, work experience, and any relevant skills or qualifications.
- Statement of Motivation: A compelling personal statement outlining your motivation for participating in the exchange program and how it aligns with your personal, academic, and social goals as well as how you see overseas study impacting our degree program and influencing your future.
- Awards: Recognition from VinUni or external awards.
- Additional Criteria: Other relevant factors that demonstrate your suitability for the exchange program. Other criteria as set by each host university, if any.

The Global Exchange Office at VinUniversity (VinUni) is pleased to announce the call for applications for the Global Exchange Student Ambassador (GESA) Grant for Summer and Fall 2024.
The GESA Grant is open for all VinUni students who meet the requirements as described below. The grant is funded by VinUni and is aimed to support VinUni full time undergraduate students who without the financial grant support would not be able to pursue an exchange program at partner universities in the Summer and Fall 2024.
The awarding of the GESA Grant is assessed based on the student’s financial conditions; their proven track of record of living the E.X.C.E.L attributes of VinUni students contributing to VinUni and the community during their time as a VinUni student; the students’ commitment to building and developing the cultural values of VinUni; and their commitment to serving as VinUni student ambassadors prior, during and after the exchange program. A limited number of GESA grants will be awarded to the most deserving students for the Summer and Fall 2024.
Minimum Eligibility
- VinUni full-time students (both domestic and international) who have been nominated for the international student exchange program for Summer and Fall 2024 under the agreement between VinUni and partner universities
- Students who have not received the GESA Grant in the previous semester.
- Students who are genuinely in need of financial grant in order to attend the global exchange program, i.e. those without the GESA grant support would not be able to join the global exchange program.
Program Eligibility:
- Onsite International Exchange Programs nominated through the Global Exchange Office at VinUni to partner universities/institutions.
- Online/virtual programs are not eligible.
Financial Value of the GESA Grant: Up to VND 90,000,000.00 per student. The grant value varies based on the financial need, living expenses, and program duration at the host countries.
Important notes: GESA grant is a one-time-only award.

- Proof document of parents’ income: A scanned copy of the original payroll/income confirmation or bank statement of salary account in the last 6 months/business registration or proof of capital contribution/business ownership capital/business store ownership of your parents.
- Any other supporting documents confirming your financial constraint situation.

Grant Disbursement
The GESA Grant will be disbursed in one lump sum payment after the students have successfully secured confirmation of program admission and student visa for the exchange program.
Terms of the Grant
- GESA grant is a one-time-only award. VinUni students can receive only one GESA grant funded by VinUni or exchange award by VinUni’s partner institutions specifically dedicated to VinUni students (such as the Erasmus + funding, Global Korea Scholarship, POSCO POSTECH Global Young Leaders Program) for the global exchange programs throughout their study program at VinUni.
- Once students are awarded the grant, they are obliged to attend any activities connected to the award before, during or after the period of participation in the program.
- Students are required to complete the study abroad program, having taken a normal course load and with all courses passed, and not leaving the program before the official program end date.
- If the students cannot participate in, or complete, the global exchange program after being awarded the fellowship, they will need to return in full the grant amount transferred to their account to VinUni. The grant is not deferred or extended in any case.
- The students are required to present an action plan on how they will serve as VinUni global exchange student ambassadors and are committed to that plan.
- At the end of the exchange program, students will need to submit to VinUni a learning report about their exchange program and will continue to serve as an ambassador for the Global Exchange Program.
- VinUni reserves the right to terminate and/or claim repayment of the disbursed award should the students violate VinUni’s or host institution’s regulations, or provide false or incomplete information on the application, or if any of the above is violated.

All Vietnamese nationals must submit an English language proficiency document due to UKVI visa requirements. Eligibility
- Currently be an active full-time student at VinUni
- Have good academic standing, at least 2.5 CGPA (cumulative grade point average minimum)
- Have no major disciplinary action at the time of application submission
- Have completed at least 2 academic semesters at VinUni prior to the Outbound Student Exchange Program (OSEP) and after the OSEP have at least one academic semester remaining at VinUni before graduation. All students in Year 1, 2, and 3 are eligible to apply.
- Have an account of good financial standing at VinUni.
- Meet all the minimum requirements including the language requirements set by the host institutions (Please refer to this LINK for the minimum requirements set by the host universities)

Expenses/Financial support
- VinUni students joining this outbound student exchange program will not have to pay the tuition fees to the host universities but continue to pay the tuition fee to VinUni during the exchange semester.
- Students will need to take care of the travel, visa, accommodation, insurance and personal living expenses and any administration and facility access fees required by the host universities.
- Information on scholarship/financial support from VinUni will be announced when it is available. VinUni students should proactively reach out to external scholarship support to apply for the student exchange programs as needed and make sure that you can cover expenses for your exchange program.

The Global Exchange Office at VinUniversity (VinUni) is pleased to announce the call for applications for the Global Exchange Student Ambassador (GESA) Grant for Spring Term 2024.
The GESA Grant is open for all VinUni students who meet the requirements as described below. The grant is funded by VinUni and is aimed to support VinUni full time undergraduate students who without the financial grant support would not be able to pursue an exchange program at partner universities in the Spring Term 2024.
The awarding of the GESA Grant is assessed based on the student’s financial conditions; their proven track of record of living the E.X.C.E.L attributes of VinUni students contributing to VinUni and the community during their time as a VinUni student; the students’ commitment to building and developing the cultural values of VinUni; and their commitment to serving as VinUni student ambassadors prior, during and after the exchange program. A limited number of GESA grants will be awarded to the most deserving students for the Spring Term 2024 and VinUni students will need to apply for it.
Financial Value of the GESA Grant: The financial value of each GESA grant ranges up to VND 90,000,000.00 per student. The grant value varies based on the living expenses at the host countries.
Minimum Eligibility
- All VinUni full-time undergraduate students (both domestic and international) who have been nominated for the international student exchange program for Spring Term 2024 and have not received any external source of funding or VinUni grants for the international global exchange program can apply for the GESA grant.
- The GESA Grant will ONLY be awarded to those who are genuinely in need of financial grant in order to attend the global exchange program, i.e. those without the grant support would not be able to join the global exchange program.
- The students must have their exchange program start date fall between January 2024 and March 2024 for this application round.
Program Eligibility:
- Onsite International Exchange Programs nominated through the Global Exchange Office at VinUni to partner universities/institutions.
- Online/virtual programs are not eligible.
Financial Value of the GESA Grant: up to VND 90,000,000.00 per student. The grant value varies based on the financial need, living expenses, and program duration at the host countries.

Grant Disbursement
The GESA Grant will be disbursed in one lump sum payment after the students have successfully secured confirmation of program admission and student visa for the exchange program.
Terms of the Grant
- GESA grant is a one-time-only award. VinUni students can receive only one GESA grant funded by VinUni or exchange award by VinUni’s partner institutions specifically dedicated to VinUni students (such as the Erasmus + funding, Global Korea Scholarship, POSCO POSTECH Global Young Leaders Program) for the global exchange programs throughout their study program at VinUni.
- Once students are awarded the grant, they are obliged to attend any activities connected to the award before, during or after the period of participation in the program.
- Students are required to complete the study abroad program, having taken a normal course load and with all courses passed, and not leaving the program before the official program end date.
- If the students cannot participate in, or complete, the global exchange program after being awarded the fellowship, they will need to return in full the grant amount transferred to their account to VinUni. The grant is not deferred or extended in any case.
- The students are required to present an action plan on how they will serve as VinUni global exchange student ambassadors and are committed to that plan.
- At the end of the exchange program, students will need to submit to VinUni a learning report about their exchange program and will continue to serve as an ambassador for the Global Exchange Program.
- VinUni reserves the right to terminate and/or claim repayment of the disbursed award should the students violate VinUni’s or host institution’s regulations, or provide false or incomplete information on the application, or if any of the above is violated.

Entrepreneurship Program at Cornell is a 1-week student exchange program for VinUni students. The program focuses on entrepreneurship, offering participants a unique opportunity to engage in comprehensive programming covering various aspects of entrepreneurial endeavors. Students will participate in programming aimed at innovation, business development, startup strategies, and more.
Program date: February 22 to February 29, 2024
Program venue: Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, United States
I. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- Currently be an active full-time undergraduate student at VinUni.
- Students must hold a valid passport (valid 6 months beyond the date of travel).
- Have good academic standing, at least 2.5 CGPA (cumulative grade point average minimum)
- Have no major disciplinary action pending at the time of application submission.
- Priority will be given to those who have actively participated in entrepreneurship or service-learning activities during your time as a VinUni student.
II. REQUIRED APPLICATION DOCUMENTS

Please follow the attached application instructions for your information. Note: In the section of Study Plan and Credit Agreement, please select “Cornell University” as the Host institution from the drop-down list and save to continue to other sections of your application.
- Step 3: Applications will be evaluated by the VinUni and Cornell Review Committee. The Review Committee will select a maximum of 6 students to participate in the Entrepreneurship Program @Cornell.
- Step 4: Final results will be announced to students in early January 2024.
IV. APPLICATION TIMELINES
- Application Deadline: 6:00PM, 15 December 2023 (Vietnam time).
- Result Release: The outcome of the selection process will be communicated to each applicant by email in early January 2024.
V. EXPENSES/FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Selected students will receive funding for tuition fee, accommodation, meals and program activities.
Students will be responsible for expenses including their round-trip flight tickets and visas, health insurance, and other personal expenses.
VI. IMPORTANT NOTES
- The students need to submit a written essay to explain why you are interested in joining this program.
- Your full commitment to attending the entire program duration is crucial if you are selected. If your academic schedule at VinUni for the Spring semester of 2024 does not allow you to participate in the program completely, we recommend carefully considering your priorities to determine what should take precedence.
