HOW TO APPLY

The Global Exchange Office at VinUniversity (VinUni) is pleased to announce the call for applications for the Global Exchange Student Ambassador (GESA) Grant for Spring Term 2024.

The GESA Grant is open for all VinUni students who meet the requirements as described below. The grant is funded by VinUni and is aimed to support VinUni full time undergraduate students who without the financial grant support would not be able to pursue an exchange program at partner universities in the Spring Term 2024.

The awarding of the GESA Grant is assessed based on the student’s financial conditions; their proven track of record of living the E.X.C.E.L attributes of VinUni students contributing to VinUni and the community during their time as a VinUni student; the students’ commitment to building and developing the cultural values of VinUni; and their commitment to serving as VinUni student ambassadors prior, during and after the exchange program. A limited number of GESA grants will be awarded to the most deserving students for the Spring Term 2024 and VinUni students will need to apply for it.

Financial Value of the GESA Grant: The financial value of each GESA grant ranges up to VND 90,000,000.00 per student. The grant value varies based on the living expenses at the host countries.

Minimum Eligibility

  • All VinUni full-time undergraduate students (both domestic and international) who have been nominated for the international student exchange program for Spring Term 2024 and have not received any external source of funding or VinUni grants for the international global exchange program can apply for the GESA grant.
  • The GESA Grant will ONLY be awarded to those who are genuinely in need of financial grant in order to attend the global exchange program, i.e. those without the grant support would not be able to join the global exchange program.
  • The students must have their exchange program start date fall between January 2024 and March 2024 for this application round.

 Program Eligibility:

  • Onsite International Exchange Programs nominated through the Global Exchange Office at VinUni to partner universities/institutions.
  • Online/virtual programs are not eligible.

Financial Value of the GESA Grant: up to VND 90,000,000.00 per student. The grant value varies based on the financial need, living expenses, and program duration at the host countries.

  • Your updated CV which demonstrates your awards, achievements, professional experience, projects, etc.

                + A scanned copy of the original savings card/online bank savings account of your/your parents (at least 1 month before the submission time) with value of 100 million VND or more (if any).

               + Proof document of parents’ income: A scanned copy of the original payroll/income confirmation or bank statement of salary account in the last 6 months/business registration or proof of capital contribution/business ownership capital/business store ownership of your parents.

+ Any other supporting documents confirming your financial constraint situation.

  • Submit an action and commitment plan on what and how you will do to represent VinUni as a student ambassador carrying the attributes, the values of VinUni prior, during and after the global exchange program.
  • Supporting documents providing evidence of your/your family financial capacity:

+ A scanned copy of the original household registration book.

+ A scanned copy of the original savings card/online bank savings account of your/your parents (at least 1 month before the submission time) with value of 100 million VND or more (if any).

+ Proof document of parents’ income: A scanned copy of the original payroll/income confirmation or bank statement of salary account in the last 6 months/business registration or proof of capital contribution/business ownership capital/business store ownership of your parents.

+ Any other supporting documents confirming your financial constraint situation.

Grant Disbursement

The GESA Grant will be disbursed in one lump sum payment after the students have successfully secured confirmation of program admission and student visa for the exchange program.

Terms of the Grant

  • GESA grant is a one-time-only award. VinUni students can receive only one GESA grant funded by VinUni or exchange award by VinUni’s partner institutions specifically dedicated to VinUni students (such as the Erasmus + funding, Global Korea Scholarship, POSCO POSTECH Global Young Leaders Program) for the global exchange programs throughout their study program at VinUni.
  • Once students are awarded the grant, they are obliged to attend any activities connected to the award before, during or after the period of participation in the program.
  • Students are required to complete the study abroad program, having taken a normal course load and with all courses passed, and not leaving the program before the official program end date.
  • If the students cannot participate in, or complete, the global exchange program after being awarded the fellowship, they will need to return in full the grant amount transferred to their account to VinUni. The grant is not deferred or extended in any case.
  • The students are required to present an action plan on how they will serve as VinUni global exchange student ambassadors and are committed to that plan.
  • At the end of the exchange program, students will need to submit to VinUni a learning report about their exchange program and will continue to serve as an ambassador for the Global Exchange Program.
  • VinUni reserves the right to terminate and/or claim repayment of the disbursed award should the students violate VinUni’s or host institution’s regulations, or provide false or incomplete information on the application, or if any of the above is violated.

Global Exchange Office is delighted to inform you that the Entrepreneurship Program @Cornell is NOW OPEN for all active full-time VinUni undergraduate students with the details as below:

Entrepreneurship Program at Cornell is a 1-week student exchange program for VinUni students. The program focuses on entrepreneurship, offering participants a unique opportunity to engage in comprehensive programming covering various aspects of entrepreneurial endeavors. Students will participate in programming aimed at innovation, business development, startup strategies, and more.

Program date: February 22 to February 29, 2024

Program venue: Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, United States 

III. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 

  • Currently be an active full-time undergraduate student at VinUni.
  • Students must hold a valid passport (valid 6 months beyond the date of travel).
  • Have good academic standing, at least 2.5 CGPA (cumulative grade point average minimum)
  • Have no major disciplinary action pending at the time of application submission.
  • Priority will be given to those who have actively participated in entrepreneurship or service-learning activities during your time as a VinUni student.

IV. REQUIRED APPLICATION DOCUMENTS

V. APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESS

  • Step 1: VinUni students do research about the program and study the requirements of the program at VinUni Global Exchange website.
  • Step 2: VinUni students submit their applications, accessible when logging in using vinuni.edu.vn email account to the Global Exchange Application Portal by the indicated deadline.  Please follow the attached application instructions for your information. Note: In the section of Study Plan and Credit Agreement, please select “Cornell University” as the Host institution from the drop-down list and save to continue to other sections of your application.
  • Step 3: Applications will be evaluated by the VinUni and Cornell Review Committee. The Review Committee will select a maximum of 6 students to participate in the Entrepreneurship Program @Cornell.
  • Step 4: Final results will be announced to students in early January 2024.

VI. APPLICATION TIMELINES

  • Application Deadline: 6:00PM, 15 December 2023 (Vietnam time).
  • Result Release: The outcome of the selection process will be communicated to each applicant by email in early January 2024.

VII. EXPENSES/FINANCIAL SUPPORT 

Selected students will receive funding for tuition fee, accommodation, meals and program activities.

Students will be responsible for expenses including their round-trip flight tickets and visas, health insurance, and other personal expenses.

VIII. IMPORTANT NOTES 

  • The students need to submit a written essay to explain why you are interested in joining this program.
  • Your full commitment to attending the entire program duration is crucial if you are selected. If your academic schedule at VinUni for the Spring semester of 2024 does not allow you to participate in the program completely, we recommend carefully considering your priorities to determine what should take precedence.

The Global Exchange Office (GEO) is calling for applications from full-time VinUni students for the Outbound Student Exchange Program, Spring Term 2024, AY 2023-24, Batch 1 with the details as follows:

Eligibility

  • Currently be an active full-time student at VinUni.
  • Have good academic standing, at least 2.5 CGPA (cumulative grade point average minimum).
  • Have no major disciplinary action pending at the time of application submission.
  • Have completed at least 2 academic semesters at VinUni prior to the Outbound Student Exchange Program (OSEP) and after the OSEP have at least one academic semester remaining at VinUni before graduation. All students of Cohorts 2022, 2021 are eligible to apply.
  • Have an account of good financial standing at VinUni.
  • Meet all the minimum requirements including the language requirements set by the host institutions (Please refer to this LINK for the minimum requirements set by the host universities).

Application Procedure

Step 1: VinUni students do research about the program and study the requirements of the program at APPLICATION INFORMATION.

Step 2: VinUni students submit their applications to the Global Exchange Application Portal by the application deadline.

Step 3: Applications will be evaluated by the VinUni Review Committee.

Step 4: Evaluation results will be announced to students.

Step 5: GEO sends VinUni nominated students’ application dossiers to partner institutions for assessment.

Step 6: The partner university reviews the nominations, makes the final decision, and issues the Letter of Acceptance to the successful students following their review timelines.

(All applicants will be notified of their application results by host university. Time may be subject to changes depending on the timelines set by each host institution.)

Important Notes:

  • Please follow the application instructions  when applying via the application portal (accessible when logging in using vinuni.edu.vn email account).
  • Please find the shared link of OSEP Information Pack_Spring Term 2024 for your preparation for your application and preference for your program if you are nominated.
  • Each host university will admit a certain number of exchange students from VinUni. Please refer to the link provided for detailed information.
  • Partner universities might not provide student exchange opportunities at all of their colleges/schools or programs. You should check the available courses or programs offered in the link provided.
  • Before applying for a program, it is important to do thorough research on the preferred university, consider which course(s) may be studied abroad and the impact study abroad could have on your degree progress. The number of exchange slots on reciprocal basis is limited and application is competitive so please select a wide range of opportunities to increase your chance of being accepted for an exchange program.
  • Students can select up to three host universities in order of preference for each batch.
  • Call for applications will be open for different batches depending on the timelines and agreement set by each host institution. Please check the APPLICATION INFORMATION  (accessible when logging in using vinuni.edu.vn email account) for the list of university options you can choose along with other essential information for your application including the eligibility criteria set by the host universities, available courses, timelines, factsheet on living and studying at host universities etc. You can also access VinUni policy on Outbound Student Exchange as well as the application form via this link.
  • Priority will be given to the students who have not been nominated for, or have not participated in, other outbound exchange programs.

Expenses/Financial support

  • VinUni students joining this outbound student exchange program will not have to pay the tuition fees to the host universities but continue to pay the tuition fee to VinUni during the exchange semester.
  • Students will need to take care of the travel, visa, accommodation, insurance and personal living expenses and any administration and facility access fees required by the host universities.
  • Information on scholarship/financial support from VinUni will be announced later. VinUni students should proactively reach out to external scholarship support to apply for the student exchange programs as needed and make sure that you can cover expenses for your exchange program.

The awarding of the GESA Grant is assessed based on the student’s financial conditions; their proven track of record of living the E.X.C.E.L attributes of VinUni students contributing to VinUni and the community during their time as a VinUni student; the students’ commitment to building and developing the cultural values of VinUni; and their commitment to serving as VinUni student ambassadors prior, during and after the exchange program. A limited number of GESA grants will be awarded to the most deserving students for the Summer Term 2023 and VinUni students will need to apply for it.

Financial Value of the GESA Grant: The financial value of each GESA grant ranges up to VND 25,000,000.00 for total grant.

Minimum Eligibility

  • All VinUni CHS nominated students for CAPRSISA, Summer Term 2023.
  • The GESA Grant will ONLY be awarded to those who are genuinely in need of financial grant in order to attend the global exchange program, i.e. those without the grant support would not be able to join the global exchange program.

 Program Eligibility:

  • Onsite International Exchange Programs nominated through the Global Exchange Office at VinUni to CAPRISA.
  • Online/virtual programs are not eligible.

Financial Value of the GESA Grant: up to VND 25,000,000.00 for total grant. The grant value varies based on the financial need, living expenses, and program duration at the South Africa.

Global Exchange Office is delighted to inform you that Student Immersion @Cornell – Reimagine VinUni Student Experience is NOW CLOSED for full-time VinUni students with the details as below:

Student Immersion at Cornell is a 2-week student exchange program for VinUni students. Using the knowledge they gain during their experience at Cornell, they will build on their essays and create programming at VinUni. To enhance the student experience, VinUni students will be asked to submit an essay outlining how they would create an optimal student experience at VinUni. The students who submit the top 6 essays will be invited to a 2-week summer experience at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, United States.  Students will participate in programming aimed at enhancing your student experience in the following areas: curricular, extra-curricular, personal development and social life.

Program date: from August 28 to September 8, 2023. Students are encouraged to arrive in Ithaca NY by August 26, 2023 

Program venue: Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, United States 

Number of available slots: 6 selected students

Tentative program structure:

 Participate to study-skill workshops and community engaged projects. Learn about several student experience programs. Visits research labs, centers, institutes at Cornell.  Attend Entrepreneurship and Leadership Development activities. Meet with Cornell executive leaders in Student Experience, Campus Life, Student Mental Health and Wellness, and Career Services  Meet with Cornell faculty and students. Learn about student clubs and assemblies. Enjoy Ithaca’s nature and local events, such as goat farm visit, boat tour, Niagara trips, etc 

Program outcome: At the conclusion of the program, the students will submit an elaborated plan on building student experience at VinUni, and maybe work with Student Affairs Office to implement a specific student experience project in the following semesters. 

Success indicators: VinUni students will gain insights into how Cornell provides student experiences, then will be able to suggest valuable ideas to VinUni leadership and inspire other VinUni students.

  • Have no major disciplinary action pending at the time of application submission. 
  • Priority will be given to those who have not participated in the outbound exchange programs OR have not been nominated to join such programs offered by VinUni in Summer and Fall 2023.  
  • Priority will be given to those who have actively participated in activities to enhance student experience during your time as a VinUni student.  

 IV. REQUIRED APPLICATION DOCUMENTS

The online application includes:

  • Two essays written in English including: 

Essay topic 1: What is your dream student experience? (200 – 250 words) 

Essay topic 2: If you were a leader at VinUni in charge of designing the student experience, how would you design a 4-year student experience for VinUnians? (~500 words) 

V. APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESS

  • Step 1: VinUni students do research about the program and study the requirements of the program at OSEP sharepoint or VinUni Global Exchange website. 
  • Step 2: VinUni students submit their applications, accessible when logging in using vinuni.edu.vn email account to the Global Exchange Application Portal by the indicated deadline.  Please follow the application instructions for your information. Note: In the section of Study Plan and Credit Agreement, please select “Cornell University” as the Host institution from the drop-down list and save to continue to other sections of your application. 
  • Step 3: Applications will be evaluated by the VinUni and Cornell Review Committee. The Review Committee will select a maximum of 6 students to participate in the summer program.  
  • Step 4: Final results will be announced to students in early July 2023.

VI. APPLICATION TIMELINES

Application Deadline: 6:00PM, 23 June 2023 (Vietnam time). 

Result Release:The outcome of the selection process will be communicated to each applicant by email in early July 2023. 

VII. EXPENSES/FINANCIAL SUPPORT 

Selected students will receive funding for tuition fee, accommodation, meals and program activities.  

Students will be responsible for expenses including their round-trip flight tickets and visas, health insurance, and other personal expenses. 

VIII. IMPORTANT NOTES 

  • The students need to submit 2 written essays on assigned topics. 
  • Your full commitment to attending the entire program duration is crucial if you are selected. If your academic schedule at VinUni for the Summer semester of 2023 does not allow you to participate in the program completely, we recommend carefully considering your priorities to determine what should take precedence. 
  • If you accept to participate in this program:

You are required to purchase travel insurance that is accepted in the USA to cover health insurance, emergency medical evacuation and security evacuation. You may also purchase additional coverage before or after your official program at Cornell for an additional fee. The required coverage must at least cover the full time period of the Cornell Student Immersion Program including travel days.  

– You are required to sign code of conduct agreement, general agreement, forms from Cornell University in accordance with their procedure

The Global Exchange Office (GEO) is calling for applications from full-time VinUni students for the Outbound Student Exchange Program, Fall Term 2023, AY 2023-24, Batch 1 with the details as follows:

Eligibility

  • Currently be an active full-time student at VinUni
  • Have good academic standing, at least 2.5 CGPA (cumulative grade point average minimum)
  • Have no major disciplinary action pending at the time of application submission
  • Have completed at least 2 academic semesters at VinUni prior to the Outbound Student Exchange Program (OSEP) and after the OSEP have at least one academic semester remaining at VinUni before graduation
  • Have an account of good financial standing at VinUni
  • Meet all the minimum requirements including the language requirements set by the host institutions (Please refer to this LINK for the minimum requirements set by the host universities)

Application Procedure

  • Step 1: VinUni students submit their applications to the Global Exchange Office (GEO) by February 15, 2022.
  • Step 2: Applications will be evaluated by the VinUni Review Committee.
  • Step 3: Evaluation results will be announced to students.
  • Step 4: GEO sends VinUni nominated students’ application dossiers to partner institutions for assessment.
  • Step 5: The partner university reviews the nominations, makes the final decision, and issues the Letter of Acceptance to the successful students following their review timelines.

(All applicants will be notified of their application results by host university. Time may be subject to changes depending on the timelines set by each host institution.)

Important Notes: 

  • Each host university will admit a certain number of exchange students from VinUni. Please refer to the link provided for detailed information.
  • Partner universities might not provide student exchange opportunities at all of their colleges/schools or programs. You should check the available courses or programs offered in the link provided.
  • Before applying for a program, it is important to do thorough research on the preferred university, consider which course(s) may be studied abroad and the impact study abroad could have on your degree progress. The number of exchange slots on reciprocal basis is limited and application is competitive so please select a wide range of opportunities to increase your chance of being accepted for an exchange program.
  • Students can select up to three host universities in order of preference.
  • Call for applications will be open for different batches depend on the timelines and agreement set by each host institution. Expenses/Financial support

VinUni students joining this outbound student exchange program will not have to pay the tuition fees to the host universities but continue to pay the tuition fee to VinUni during the exchange semester. Students will need to take care of the travel, visa, accommodation, insurance and personal living expenses and any administration and facility access fees required by the host universities. Fellowship or financial support for VinUni students joining the student exchange programs is not guaranteed for this Fall Term 2023. VinUni students should proactively reach out to external scholarship support to apply for the student exchange programs as needed and make sure that you can cover expenses for your exchange program before you accept the nomination.

The Global Exchange Office at VinUniversity (VinUni) is pleased to announce for the first time ever the call for applications for the Global Exchange Student Ambassador (GESA) Grant for Spring Term 2023.

The GESA Grant is open for all VinUni students who meet the requirements as described below. The grant is funded by VinUni and is aimed to support VinUni full time undergraduate students who without the financial grant support would not be able to pursue an exchange program at partner universities in the Spring Term 2023.

The awarding of the GESA Grant is assessed based on the student’s financial conditions; their proven track of record of living the E.X.C.E.L attributes of VinUni students contributing to VinUni and the community during their time as a VinUni student; the students’ commitment to building and developing the cultural values of VinUni; and their commitment to serving as VinUni student ambassadors prior, during and after the exchange program. A limited number of GESA grants will be awarded to the most deserving students in need of financial support for the Spring Term 2023 and VinUni students will need to apply for it.

Financial Value of the GESA Grant: The financial value of each GESA grant is up to VND 90,000,000.00 per student. The grant value varies based on the living expenses at the host countries.

Minimum Eligibility

  • All VinUni full-time undergraduate students (both domestic and international) who have been nominated for the international student exchange program for Spring Term 2023 and have not received any external source of funding for the international global exchange program can apply for the grant.
  • The GESA Grant will ONLY be awarded to those who are genuinely in need of financial grant in order to attend the global exchange program, i.e. those without the grant support would not be able to join the global exchange program.
  • The students must have their exchange program start date fall between January and March 2023 for this application round.

 Program Eligibility

The GESA Grant covers participation in programs under the categories below:

  • In-person International Exchange Programs nominated through the Global Exchange Office at VinUni to partner universities/institutions.
  • Online/virtual programs are not eligible.

Application Process

  • Submit the offer letter for the exchange program from the host university if such letter is available by the application deadline.
  • Submit the most recent Self-Evaluation Report (which can be downloaded from the Blue Explorance System at https://vinuni.bluera.com/vinuni/)
  • Submit an action and commitment plan on what and how you will do to represent VinUni as a student ambassador carrying the attributes, the values of VinUni prior, during and after the global exchange program.
  • Complete and submit and an online application via this link.
  • Successful grant recipients will receive a grant offer letter to their University student email account.

Grant Disbursement

The GESA Grant will be disbursed in one lump sum payment after the students have successfully secured confirmation of program admission and student visa for the exchange program.

The grant will be credited to students’ bank account in Vietnam within 10 working days prior to the departure date of the students to the host university overseas provided that the students have met the above mentioned requirements regarding the visa and admission.

Terms of the Grant

  • GESA grant is a one-time-only award. VinUni students can receive only one GESA grant funded by VinUni or exchange award by VinUni’s partner institutions specifically dedicated to VinUni students (such as the Erasmus + funding) for the global exchange programs throughout their study program at VinUni.
  • Once students are awarded the grant, they are obliged to attend any activities connected to the award before, during or after the period of participation in the program.
  • Students are required to complete the study abroad program, having taken a normal course load and with all courses passed, and not leaving the program before the official program end date.
  • If the students cannot participate in, or complete, the global exchange program after being awarded the fellowship, they will need to return in full the grant amount transferred to their account to VinUni. The grant is not deferred or extended in any case.
  • The students are required to present an action plan on how they will serve as VinUni global exchange student ambassadors and are committed to that plan.
  • At the end of the exchange program, students will need to submit to VinUni a reflection report about their exchange program and will continue to serve as an ambassador for the Global Exchange Program.
  • VinUni reserves the right to terminate and/or claim repayment of the disbursed award should the students violate VinUni’s or host institution’s regulations, or provide false or incomplete information on the application, or if any of the above is violated.
