On January 5, 2023, through the partnership with TIKI, VinUni had the honor to invite Mr. Thomas Harris, Vice President of Fulfillment at Tikinow Smart Logistics, to deliver a presentation for the session “Digital Innovations in Asian Retail Supply Chains” at the Supply Chain Thought Leaders (SCTL) Roundtable.
Mr. Harris presented urbanization across the world and the impact of megacities on the supply chain with the focus on e-commerce fulfillment and deliveries. He highlighted the vast difference between operations in Vietnam and elsewhere in the world, even the neighboring countries in Southeast Asia. His hands on practical experience gain from more than 10 years working in Vietnam provided valuable insights for top scholars at the SCTL Roundtable who came to Vietnam for the first time.
Mr. Thomas Harris presenting about urbanization across the world and the impact of megacities on the supply chain
Mr. Harris recognized the importance of having the opportunities to exchange ideas and conversations with top professors worldwide because the academia needs to know about the practice of corporates to dive deeper into their research and provide solutions to the real-world problems. The SCTL Roundtable at VinUni indeed helped bridge the gap between the academia and the industry in Vietnam, promising to make an impact to the country and the world.
Also, at his visit to VinUni, Mr. Harris saw the potential of future cooperation between the two institutions. TIKI is a tech company full of hundreds of computer engineers developing in-house product and developing the upfront platform for Vietnam consumers. Its operations in the backend are also about technical aspects of ensuring the supply chain works. Meanwhile, VinUni’s investment in state-of-the-art labs and AI applied research might booster further the cooperation with TIKI.
