A global conversation on the Future of Materials and Technology – this June at VinUni

May 26, 2026

In an era shaped by new energy systems, semiconductor technologies, artificial intelligence, and quantum computing, materials science is becoming one of the fundamental drivers of technological breakthroughs. From next-generation electronic materials and sustainable energy materials to nanotechnology and advanced research methodologies, innovations in this field are opening new directions for research, industry, and high-tech development.

Against this backdrop, VinUniversity will organize ICMIT 2026 – The 1st International Conference on Materials Innovation and Technology from June 10 to 12, 2026. The conference aims to foster global collaboration through high-quality academic exchange, bringing together scientists, researchers, experts, and representatives from technology industries in Vietnam and around the world.

ICMIT 2026 is co-organized by the Center for Materials Innovation and Technology (CMIT), the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED), the Vingroup Innovation Foundation (VinIF), and the VinFast Battery Cell Institute. The conference is co-chaired by Prof. Manh-Huong Phan, Director of CMIT, and Prof. Sir Konstantin Novoselov, 2010 Nobel Laureate in Physics, Director of the Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials in Singapore, and member of the VinFuture Prize Council.

ICMIT 2026 will feature more than 100 invited speakers, including world-leading scientists in materials science and Vietnamese scientists working overseas. The conference will convene many internationally influential scholars, including researchers ranked among the world’s top 1% most influential scientists, more than 20 scientists listed among the world’s top 2% in materials science, over 10 fellows of prestigious international scientific societies, and experts serving as editors of leading journals in physics and materials science.

The conference will focus on four key pillars:

  • Electronic and Quantum Materials
  • Biomaterials and Nanotechnology
  • Energy and Sustainable Materials
  • AI-Driven Materials Discovery

Beyond academic exchange, ICMIT 2026 will emphasize the connection between research and industrial application. As part of the conference, the special session “Materials Science for Industry” will bring together experts and business leaders in new energy materials, semiconductor materials, and semiconductor technologies. The session will provide a platform to discuss emerging technological trends, industry needs, and opportunities for collaboration between scientists and the industrial sector.

Through ICMIT 2026, VinUniversity aims to contribute to building a high-level international academic forum where research ideas, technological capabilities, and industrial needs can meet, engage in dialogue, and open new pathways for collaboration. The conference will not only provide an opportunity to explore advanced research directions in materials science but also help strengthen Vietnam’s role in the global research and innovation network.
