Biography
Professor Dung Tran Trung is the Chief Executive Officer of Vinmec Healthcare System and a distinguished orthopaedic surgeon, academic leader, and healthcare executive in Vietnam. He currently also serves as Founding Professor and Program Director of the Orthopaedic Residency Program at VinUniversity, Visiting Professor at Osaka Metropolitan University, Japan, President of the Vietnam 3D Technology in Medicine Association, and Chairman of the Medical Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation.
Professor Trung graduated in Medicine from Hanoi Medical University in 2000, completed his orthopaedic residency training at Viet Duc University Hospital in 2004, and obtained his PhD in Orthopaedics from Hanoi Medical University in 2011. He was appointed Associate Professor of Medicine in 2015 and Professor in 2020.
Professor Trung is recognized as a leading expert in joint replacement, arthroscopy, sports medicine, musculoskeletal oncology, and limb reconstruction. He is an active member of several national and international professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the International Arthroscopy Association, the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, the Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association, the Asia-Pacific Knee, Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Society, and the Vietnam Orthopaedic Association.
He is a pioneer in robotic-assisted surgery, personalized 3D surgical planning, patient-specific instrumentation, and 3D-printed implants in orthopaedic practice. Through his leadership across Vinmec and VinUniversity, Professor Trung contributes to strengthening an academic healthcare ecosystem that integrates clinical excellence, education, research, innovation, and international collaboration. He has played an important role in advancing international academic collaboration with major medical universities and centers in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Australia, and other countries.
