VinUni collaborates with National University of Singapore in innovation
VinUniversity (VinUni) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National University of Singapore (NUS), particularly in the areas of smart cities and solutions for community health.
The signing ceremony took place at VinUniversity with the attendance of H.E Jaya Ratnam, Ambassador of Singapore to Vietnam, Professor Aaron Thean, Deputy President (Academic Affairs) and Provost of NUS, Dr. Le Mai Lan, Vice Chairwoman of Vingroup, President of VinUniversity, representative from the Singapore Chamber of Commerce Vietnam (Singcham), along with senior leaders from both institutions.

NUS and VinUni will collaborate to enhance diverse-learning opportunities for talented students through new academic pathways, engaging in interdisciplinary research, exploring opportunities to exchange scientific, technical information and appropriate academic materials. Both side will joinly organize academic and scientific activities such as seminars and conferences in areas that can bring breakthroughs and positive impacts to life and society.
Following the signing ceremony, NUS and VinUni discussed a pilot integrated Bachelor’s-Master’s-Ph.D. training model spanning 8 years for students. The program will involve joint teaching by instructors from both universities, take place in two countries. As such, student’s degrees jointly designed and awarded by the two universities.
In the research field, both parties have collaborated with the leadership team of Khanh Hoa province and Nha Trang city, discussing the establishment of joint research groups and closely coordinating between the university and local government in the strategic project on “Green transformation, Green economy” for the city.

Sharing at the signing ceremony, H.E Jaya Ratnam, the Ambassador of Singapore in Vietnam, stated: “Singapore and Vietnam are like-minded partners who are doubling down on our collaboration to advance our shared long-term interest. The cornerstone of our relationship remains our people to people relations, particularly our educational connections. And I am confident this partnership between these two premier educational institutions, both committed to excellence, will serve to bring our two countries even closer together.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Professor Aaron Thean, Deputy President (Academic Affairs) and Provost of NUS, stated: “We are very impressed with what VinUni has achieved after only a short period of time. The world is heading to a new era in terms of change. And I think Southeast Asia has great potential, and we need a community of change makers, and that’s why we are here. We hope to nail down some agreements together and take that first step that to bring about effectiveness change and build a community”.

Professor David Bangsberg – VinUni’s Provost expressed: “NUS and VinUni share the same perspective on the aspiration for innovation, constantly advancing, and not being satisfied with the achievements already made. Both sides are particularly interested in jointly designing pioneering programs to expedite the progress of leadership training and establishing collaborative research groups in crucial areas in the development roadmap of the Southeast Asian region”.
