Stunningly successful industry-university partnership in South Korea: SKKU university
Last week, a VinUni team travelled to South Korea to visit six universities: some of the best in South Korea, and rapidly rising in international rankings on many dimensions. Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU), a private comprehensive research university founded in 1398 has a long history and royal origins, which gives it a unique historical charm! However history can only carry a university so far! What has truly propelled SKKU to the number one private research university in South Korea in the U.S. News & World Ranking, 95th in the (QS) world university rankings 2020, 82nd in the Times Higher Education 2019 world university rankings, and in the top-50 most innovative universities in the world (https://www.reuters.com/innovative-universities-2019), is its deep, extensive and multi-dimensional partnership with Samsung, including scholarships, internships, real project based and experiential learning, immersive learning in Samsung labs, facilities, projects and teams, and it’s very high graduate employment rate. SKKU’s School of Medicine, which is affiliated with Samsung Medical Center, the top research hospital in Korea, is generally recognized as one of the top medical schools in South Korea.
