THE OPPORTUNITY

The faculty Medical Director of the Ocean Park Clinic and VinUni student clinic will work closely with our partners at Vinmec to oversee clinical operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare services while supporting the educational objectives of our medical students and residents who will be rotating in both clinics. This role is pivotal in maintaining a balance between operational efficiency, clinical excellence, and educational value. The Medical Director will work closely with clinical staff, department heads, faculty members, and administrative leadership to foster an environment conducive to patient care, learning, and research.

The incumbent should have extensive experience in clinic operations, preferably with leadership roles overseeing medical practices. This role will report directly to the Vice Dean for Medical Education of CHS and will be 1.0 FTE.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Clinical Leadership and Oversight: Provide leadership and direction for all clinical aspects of the OCP clinic and VinUni clinic, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Educational Mission Integration: Enhance the clinics’ role as a clinical teaching site, ensuring that medical students and residents receive outstanding educational experiences through exposure to a wide range of patient care activities.
  • Quality Improvement: Lead quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient safety, clinical outcomes, and patient satisfaction. Monitor compliance with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Faculty and Staff Development: Mentor and support the professional development of the clinic’s faculty and staff, including clinicians, nurses, and administrative personnel.
  • Strategic Planning: Participate in strategic planning for the clinic, aligning clinical services with the educational and research missions of the university’s medical programs.
  • Collaboration and Partnership: Build and maintain effective relationships with university departments, affiliated hospitals, and community healthcare providers to expand clinical services and educational opportunities.
  • Resource Management: Work closely with Vinmec leaders and staff to oversee the management of clinical resources, including staffing, budgeting, and clinic operations, to ensure efficient and effective use of resources.
  • Clinical Practice: At least 50% time will be devoted to direct patient care within both the OCP clinic and the VinUni student clinic.

COMPENSATION

The salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

 

  • MD degree with specialization in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Family Medicine, or a related specialty.
  • Valid Vietnam medical license and eligibility for credentialing at affiliated hospitals.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within a clinical teaching environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to medical education and mentorship of students and residents.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in clinical quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and best practices in outpatient care.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with experience prioritizing work in a fast-paced environment with multiple and conflicting interests.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, understand and follow policies and procedures, and accommodate change. Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively on a team.
  • The position requires good judgment, rigorous attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive/confidential information with discretion.

 

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY

English is the language of teaching and communication at VinUniversity. For this role, the candidate needs to have an excellent written and verbal communication skill in English.

LIVING AND WORKING IN HANOI, VIETNAM

  • Work permit: VinUniversity will assist in and provide advice for obtaining the necessary paperwork needed for employment in Vietnam (visa, work permit, insurance, etc.). However, it is your responsibility to ensure that you can satisfy all the paper requirements in a timely manner.
