With pride and honor – VinUni faculty is recognized as the “Promising Young Faces of Vietnam in 2023”

On the evening of March 20, 2024, in Hanoi, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union announced the list of 10 outstanding young faces of Vietnam and 9 promising young faces of Vietnam in 2023. Dr. Pham Huy Hieu from VinUni was honored to be named in the list of “Promising Young Faces of Vietnam in 2023” in the field of scientific research and innovation. 

Dr. Pham Huy Hieu, 32 years old, is the co-leader of the VAIPE project at the VinUni – Illinois Smart Health Center. He is currently a faculty at the College of Engineering and Computer Science; Deputy Director of the VinUni-Illinois Smart Health Center, Director of the Entrepreneurship Lab (E-lab), VinUni. 

Previously, Pham Huy Hieu excellently made it to the top 20 nominees for the “Outstanding Young Faces of Vietnam in 2023”. The award is a prestigious recognition from the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to acknowledge and honor outstanding youth under 35 years old, who have remarkable achievements in 10 fields: academic excellence; scientific research and innovation; production labor; business and entrepreneurship; national defense; security; sports; social activities; culture and arts; state administrative management. 

In this year’s award selection process, Dr. Pham Huy Hieu was nominated by VinUni and major press agencies including VnExpress online newspaper and Thanh Nien newspaper to the judging panel. He is one of the three outstanding young researchers nominated in the Scientific Research category. 

“The Outstanding Young Faces of Vietnam” is an annual award by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to recognize and honor outstanding youth under 35 years old with remarkable achievements in 10 fields: education; scientific research and innovation; production labor; business and entrepreneurship; national defense; security; sports and physical activities; social activities; culture and arts; state administration. 

Dr. Hieu is one of the three talented young researchers under the age of 35 nominated in the Scientific Research category. Currently, he is a research scientist in the fields of Computer Vision, Machine Learning Statistics, Smart Health and Digital Health. Dr. Hieu’s research focuses on leveraging advanced technologies in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science to develop cost-effective, user-friendly, and scalable smart health solutions aimed at improving community health.
