October 10, 2023

On October 5th, 2023, VinUni was honored to co-host the “Training on Internal Quality Assurance Workshop” with Potsdam University and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). This is a regional-scale conference, bringing together leaders from 30 universities in Southeast Asia. The Workshop is held within the framework of the TrainIQA Course – a scholarship program sponsored by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for  universities in Southeast Asia.

In her speech, Dr. Le Mai Lan – President of University Council shared that 30 years ago, she was a student who received a scholarship from DAAD to study at Technical University of Berlin, so speaking at the Conference was very meaningful to her. In addition, Dr. Mai Lan emphasized that although managing and operating a university is still very new to Vingroup, the Group and the University Council both understand the importance of ensuring quality in teaching and training talents for the country.

“Quality is very important to a business, no quality no business. But this is more than just business, even though we know about compliance and corporate quality assurance, for university it is not just about right and wrong and how we can fix it. It’s about developing people and the way of thinking, the way of contributing, the way of developing. No high quality people, no prosperity, no development for the country. We are very honored to participate in this conference and learn from co-organizers as well as from advisors and leaders of universities in Southeast Asia. I wish all of you a lot of success and happiness. I wish that I will have more opportunity to co-host activities like this when you come to Vietnam next time” – Dr. Mai Lan emphasized.

There was also a discussion session on the topic of Quality Assurance with many insights from the attendees. Main issues discussed include: new quality assurance (QA) initiatives, QA goals in 2023, challenges in QA implementation, QA policies worth sharing, ….

In addition, posters of research results on quality assurance proposals made by conference participants were showcased to provide in-depth perspectives and suggest quality assurance solutions for universities in Southeast Asia, including VinUni.
