“You are ready!”

“You are ready” – Dr. James Arrighi (President & CEO of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education International, or ACGME-I), and Dr. Lorraine Lewis (ACGME-I Executive Director), said after the Accreditation Preparedness Assessment (APA) visit at VinUniversity from 18-19 April 2023.

ACGME-I accreditation demonstrates that graduate medical education programs outside the United States meet established standards for Institutional, Foundational, and Advanced specialty education.

During this visit to VinUniversity, the ACGME-I delegation had many meetings with our top leadership, including President Le Mai Lan, GME leaders, participating hospital leaders (VinMec Times City, 108 Military Central Hospital, and National Children’s Hospital), numerous faculty, and dozens of our residents to evaluate our university’s readiness for ACGME-I accreditation.

The ACGME-I delegation was impressed with the well-structured programs, the facilities of VinUni and our teaching hospitals, and the residents’ reflections about their training programs.

In the coming weeks, ACGME-I will complete the official report about the readiness of VinUni to join the ACGME-I community. If achieved, VinUniversity will become the first institution to be accredited by ACGME-I in Vietnam, and only the second in all of Asean, after Singapore.
