VinUniversity Students’ Fintech Startups Won Finnovation 2022’s First and Second Prizes

September 27, 2022

Overcoming nearly 200 projects across the country, the 2 start-up projects in financial technology (fintech) co-founded by VinUniversity students – Zinance and Mediaverse, won the First and Second Prize respectively at the finale of Finnovation Students’ Financial Technology Startup Competition 2022.

Zinance won the first prize of Finnovation 2022

Zinance is a financial education solution for young people co-founded by Nguyen Luu Anh Tuan, a VinUniversity student from the College of Engineering and Computer Science in the late 2021. Realizing that financial management is a common challenge among a majority of young people, Zinance was created with the expectation to meet Gen Z’s demand for financial education not only in terms of savings and expense planning but also in other aspects such as credit, insurance and investment. The solution is developed based on the “gamification” and “learn-to-earn” models to bring on exciting learning experiences for its users. At Finnovation 2022, the project was highly appreciated by the judges for its breakthrough approach, creativeness and high potential for commercialization.

The Mediaverse media platform was co-founded by Nguyen Minh Tuan, a student of College of Engineering and Computer Science, and To Kieu Khanh, a student of College of Business and Management, VinUniversity. With Mediaverse, businesses can build and effectively promote their brands through the metaverse virtual reality platform to enhance user experience and expand global customer reach without the limitations of space and approaches. Recently, the group stated that they were honored to receive a $35,300 grant from Bizverse World Fund (Vietnam’s first Metaverse project) to develop the project.

Media verse won the second prize of Finnovation 2022

“I was beyond thrilled and delighted to be awarded with the First Prize because there are many other competing projects from more experienced teams who had worked at big companies with products serving tens of thousands of users. Although our product hasn’t got any users yet, we have proven to the judges and the investors of its potential, the high applicability of the project, the high commitment, and the broad vision of the creators”, Nguyen Luu Anh Tuan, founder of Zinance project shared about the competition.

The two projects Zinance and Mediaverse are currently among the 10 projects joining the Incubator Program by VinUniversity Startup Center – E Lab and UpYouth. In addition to the initial funding, the teams are offered one-on-one mentorship by a network of leading experts in the startup ecosystem, and dedicated support in preparation of fundraising applications targeting regional investment funds.
