VinUniversity proudly became University of Sydney’s first partner in the world to sign a Study Abroad Agreement with tuition and accommodation fees waiver

VinUni has recently signed a Study Abroad Agreement with the University of Sydney (ranked 19th globally and 2nd in Australia (according to the QS Rankings 2024).

This agreement provides an opportunity for students with high financial needs who have excelled and received a 100% scholarship to study at VinUni, to participate in a study abroad semester at the University of Sydney. When selected for this program, students will receive a scholarship covering the entire tuition and accommodation expenses in Australia, valued at AU$20,000, from the University of Sydney, along with a living allowance from VinUni. Importantly, VinUni is honored to be the first university globally to sign an agreement for this scholarship program with the University of Sydney, aiming to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion for students.

The signing ceremony was attended by Ms. Jen Bahen – Counsellor for Education and Research at the Australian Embassy in Hanoi, and delegates from the University of Sydney, including Mr. Tim Field – Director (International), Sydney Future Students, Mr. Alex Vu – Country Director in Vietnam, and Ms. Elise Nguyen, Senior Recruitment Assistant. VinUni’s senior leaders present at the ceremony included Prof. Dr. David Bangsberg – Provost, Prof. David Harrison – Vice Provost of Academic Affairs, Prof. Laurent El Ghaoui – Vice Provost of Research and Innovation as well as representatives from Colleges.

   

With the signing of this agreement, VinUni welcomes a new Australian partner alongside the University of Technology Sydney and the University of Queensland, expanding our list of partner universities to 22 institutions, providing numerous opportunities for international exchange for VinUni students. Prof. Bangsberg shared, “We aim to train future world leaders, and we cannot do that without providing international experiences for our students. We hope to accomplish that by welcoming Australian students going to Vietnam for exchanges as well as sending Vietnamese students abroad to gain diverse experiences.” 

University of Sydney Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Mark Scott AO, said the partnership was part of the University’s commitment to strengthening educational ties with Vietnam and supporting students from different backgrounds to succeed.

“The enduring friendship between Australia and Vietnam is evident for us at the University of Sydney with our Vietnamese students, who are part of our strong international cohort and contribute to the diversity and vibrancy of campus life.

“We’re delighted to partner with VinUni to support talented Vietnamese students to experience a taste of life and study in Australia, and look forward to welcoming them to our University community.”

Ms. Jen Bahen also expressed her joy at the unique collaboration opportunity between VinUni and the University of Sydney.
