VinUniversity And Hanoi University Of Science And Technology Join Forces To Advance Innovation And Excellence In Vietnamese Higher Education

Hanoi, October 14, 2025 – VinUniversity (VinUni) and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a new chapter in their partnership to foster innovation, enhance the quality of education and research, and contribute to the advancement of Vietnamese higher education toward global standards.
This collaboration is a natural progression of the strong foundation built between the two institutions over the years. Prior to the MOU signing, VinUni and HUST have already co-implemented 08 joint research projects on different topics ranging from new materials, environmental sustainability, smart health, health care solutions, smart environment to smart charging. Researchers from both institutions have also published 107 joint papers in Scopus-indexed journals. More than 30 HUST students have participated in research projects and post-grad programs at VinUni. Numerous student exchange, entrepreneurship, and academic events have further strengthened the bond between the two universities, paving the way for today’s comprehensive partnership.
Under the MoU, VinUni and HUST will collaborate across multiple strategic areas: jointly shaping institutional vision and brand positioning on the global academic landscape; advancing research and innovation projects; sharing infrastructure, data, and research resources; co-organizing academic conferences in Vietnam and abroad; cooperating in the training of engineers, master’s, Ph.D., and post-docs; developing joint academic programs and credit recognition mechanisms; sharing best practices in quality assurance and accreditation; and fostering entrepreneurship and the commercialization of scientific and technological outcomes.
The partnership is grounded in a shared belief that the future of higher education in Vietnam lies in collaboration. When leading universities come together to share knowledge, capabilities, and aspirations, they can create a stronger academic ecosystem, one that nurtures talent, empowers ideas, and amplifies impact for the nation’s progress.
Both VinUni and HUST share a common vision: to educate a new generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators who combine global mindsets with a deep understanding of Vietnam’s unique challenges and opportunities. Each university brings its own distinctive strengths, HUST’s excellence in engineering and technology, and VinUni’s pioneering model of an international university rooted in excellence. Together, these strengths will create new opportunities for students, faculty, and researchers alike.
The collaboration will also facilitate joint faculty appointments, the establishment of cross-institutional research groups, and expanded partnerships with global universities and industry leaders to accelerate knowledge transfer, technological innovation, and the emergence of a new generation of “scientist-entrepreneurs” in Vietnam.
The partnership between VinUni and HUST represents more than an institutional agreement; it embodies a shared spirit of collaboration and commitment to excellence, a collective step toward a more open, innovative, and globally competitive higher education system for Vietnam.
