July 21, 2025

Hà Nội, ngày 24/06/2025 Trường Đại học VinUni (VinUni) và Đại học Quốc gia Hà Nội (ĐHQG HN) đã ký kết thỏa thuận hợp tác, hướng tới mục tiêu phát triển nghiên cứu, học thuật, thúc đẩy đổi mới và đào tạo nhân tài chất lượng cao cho Việt Nam. Sự kiện đánh dấu cột mốc quan trọng trong chiến lược phát triển của VinUni và ĐHQG HN, đồng thời khẳng định cam kết hợp lực giữa các cơ sở giáo dục đại học trong nước nhằm nâng tầm vị thế của giáo dục Việt Nam trên bản đồ nghiên cứu và học thuật thế giới.

Hanoi, June 24, 2025 – VinUniversity (VinUni) and Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at advancing research, academia, innovation, and the development of high-quality human resources for Vietnam. This event marks a significant milestone in the strategic development of both VinUni and VNU, and affirms the commitment to collaboration between domestic higher education institutions in elevating Vietnam’s position on the global academic and research map.

The signing ceremony took place at the Hoa Lac University Township and was attended by Professor Dr. Le Quan – President of VNU, and Dr. Le Mai Lan – Vice Chairwoman of Vingroup and VinUni’s President of the University Council, along with leaders, representatives of member institutions, and functional departments from both sides.

The collaboration between VinUni and VNU is built upon leveraging the unique strengths of each institution, with a shared goal of enhancing academic capacity, promoting interdisciplinary research, fostering innovation, and driving global integration. The core focus of the agreement is the development of strategically impactful areas that contribute to national sustainable development, such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, digital transformation, green transition, and public health.

In addition, both parties have agreed to cooperate across multiple pillars: sharing best practices in university governance; co-establishing centers of excellence and joint research institutes; developing an innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem; strengthening graduate education and talent attraction; and organizing scholarship programs, internships, research opportunities, and academic exchange for students.

Furthermore, the partnership will provide a strong foundation for VinUni and VNU to connect the academic community, share resources, and foster collaboration in quality assurance, university rankings, and accreditation – ultimately contributing to the sustainable development and enhanced global competitiveness of Vietnam’s higher education system.

VinUni is now entering its next strategic development phase with the goal of becoming one of the world’s top 100 universities. At the heart of this strategy is the “VinUni 500” initiative – a bold plan to recruit 500 world-class academic talents and leverage a funding commitment of 9,300 billion VND from Vingroup to expand educational capacity and build an internationally recognized research ecosystem in Vietnam.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Le Mai Lan, VinUni’s President of the University Council, shared: “We believe that no university can achieve excellence by developing in isolation. The collaboration between VinUni and VNU is not only a step forward in our individual development strategies, but also a statement about the future of higher education in Vietnam: together, we can build a modern university ecosystem – deeply collaborative, quick to learn, and sustainably developed.”

With over 400 international academic partners, a strong team of scholars, and more than 80,000 students, VNU is currently one of the leading science and education hubs in Vietnam. In addition to developing a core team of 500 key scientists,  including 50 leading experts in their respective fields, collaborating with VinUni, one of the fastest-growing universities in the region, is a vital part of VNU’s goal to elevate its research and knowledge transfer capacity to international standards.

Professor Dr. Le Quan, President of VNU, praised the vision and systematic investment of Vingroup and VinUni in education and science. He expressed his belief that the substantive collaboration between VNU and VinUni would generate synergistic strength, helping both institutions not only secure high rankings on international rankings but also build an academic ecosystem that attracts and retains talent, advances applied science, and contributes to national development.

During the working session, senior leaders from both sides discussed several key areas, including university governance tied to faculty development, priority research fields, and the creation of academic resources. Both sides acknowledged the proactive efforts of VNU and VinUni scientists in jointly proposing 19 major scientific projects expected to launch in the near future. They agreed to prioritize the most feasible proposals for leadership approval in early July.

The cooperation agreement between VinUni and VNU lays a strong foundation for these two pioneering institutions to drive educational innovation in Vietnam, while also unlocking significant potential to jointly build a modern university ecosystem – where knowledge, technology, and people come together to shape the future.
