Vingroup Granting 48 Billion VND in Science and Technology Scholarships for Overseas Studies for Master’s and Doctoral Degrees, Establishing the Global Network of Vingroup Scholars

On June 24, 2022, under Vingroup’s “Science and Technology Scholarship Program for Overseas Studies for Master’s and Doctoral Degrees (also known as Vingroup Science and Technology Scholarship Program), a scholarship award ceremony for 30 Master’s and Doctoral students of the 2022 academic year was held formally with the announcement for the launching of Vingroup Young Scholars Global Network.

The 2022 Vingroup Science and Technology Scholarship Award Ceremony honored 30 outstanding young Vietnamese scholars in the presence of representatives of the US, Australian, French, Singapore embassies… The total value of the 2022 awarded scholarships is 48 billions dong. Since its official launching in 2019, after four scholarship seasons, the Program has so far granted 132 scholarships with a total value of more than 339 billion VND to outstanding young scholars aspiring to serve the community and the advancement of Vietnam’s science and technology in the future.

To receive  Vingroup’s Science and Technology Scholarship Program for Overseas Studies for Master’s and Doctoral Degrees, applicants are required to go through a rigorous selection process: following the preliminary round, the most qualified candidates will be selected for interviews conducted by professors from the Vingroup Advisory Board and leading professors from distinguished international universities such as Cornell University, Illinois Urbana Champaign University, Johns Hopkins University, Nanyang Technological University… Candidates passing the interview round will apply to their target universities and undergo these universities’ independent admission process. Successful candidates who made it through all selection and admission processes will be officially awarded the Vingroup Scholarship.

This year’s 30 scholarship recipients are all excellent youths with the highest achievements among more than 500 applicants. They have successfully won over the Admission Councils of distinguished international universities including Harvard University, Stanford University, University of California, Los Angeles (USA), Oxford University (UK), ETH Zurich University (Switzerland), Delft University of Technology (Netherlands), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore)…

Speaking at the scholarship awarding ceremony, Mr. Jaya Ratnam, Singapore Ambassador to Vietnam, said: “I am very impressed with the mission of  Vingroup’s Science and Technology Scholarship Program for Overseas Studies for Master’s and Doctoral Degrees – which is to young Vietnamese intellectuals with great talents and ambitions as well as the willingness  to face challenges to find new opportunities. They will become the key factors to create positive changes ​​for Vietnam’s science and technology field in the future.”

Within the scope of the 2022 Vingroup Science and Technology Scholarships Award Ceremony, the Vingroup Young Scholars’ Global Network was also officially launched. This network serves to connect more than 130 Vietnamese Master’s and Doctoral students and alumni who received Vingroup scholarships over the years and studied or are studying at the 35 top universities around the world. Through this network, members not only support each other in both career and life matters, but also create a community of young intellectuals that transcend national boundaries and reach global reach.

Dr. Le Mai Lan, Vice Chairwoman of Vingroup, Chairwoman of the VinUniversity Council – the management institution for the Scholarship Program indicated: “Upon giving opportunities for young intellectuals to study abroad and access world-class education, we believe that in the future, they will play the key roles in promoting the advancement of science and technology to join hands to solve major issues of Vietnam and the world, while creating positive impacts of Vietnam’s science and technology on the global map of  science and technology”.

The Vingroup Science and Technology Scholarship Program is realizing the ambitions of more and more young Vietnamese talents. To accelerate and support Vietnamese science and technology talents with opportunities to access international science and technology advancement, from 2023, the program will be expanded to Postdoctoral fellows and scholars as well as for the overseas study component of the integrated Master’s and Doctoral program in Science and Technology between VinUniversity and partnered international leading universities. These efforts in a global-scale “talent incubation” mission will contribute to building a strong foundation for Vietnam’s sustainable development in the future.
