Vingroup continues a long-standing commitment with more than 90 billion VND in Scholarships for overseas Master’s and Doctoral studies in 2026

On July 10, 2026, the Vingroup Science and Technology Scholarship Program, managed and implemented by VinUniversity, held the Scholarship Award Ceremony – Cohort 2026.

This year, Vingroup awarded scholarships worth more than 90 billion VND to 27 outstanding young Vietnamese talents who will continue their academic and research journeys at the Master’s and PhD levels at leading universities around the world, including Imperial College London, the University of Pennsylvania, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Management University, the University of Sydney, the University of Melbourne, and the University of Technology Sydney…

The ceremony was attended by representatives from the Australian, Singaporean, UK, and U.S. Embassies, professors and faculty members of VinUniversity, Vingroup Scholars, alumni, and the families of the 2026 scholarship recipients. The presence and support of diplomatic representatives from the countries where the scholars will pursue their studies also highlighted the program’s role in connecting Vietnamese talents with world-class academic environments.

At the ceremony, Mr. Rajpal Singh, Ambassador of Singapore in Vietnam, shared a message with the scholars: “You are in a better position than ever to seize the opportunities of a rapidly rising Vietnam. Every challenge you encounter throughout your study abroad journey will be worthwhile because of the opportunities and values it will bring.”

The ceremony also welcomed Ms. Renée Deschamps, Deputy Ambassador of Australia to Viet Nam, and Ms. Mary Beth Polley, Counselor for Public Affairs, U.S. Embassy Hanoi, who congratulated the scholars and commended Vingroup’s long-term commitment to developing Vietnam’s high-quality science and technology workforce. Together with Singapore, the United States and Australia have been the three countries hosting the largest number of Vingroup Scholars over the years, with 104, 65, and 64 scholars, respectively.

Dr. Le Mai Lan, Vice Chairwoman of Vingroup and President of VinUniversity, emphasized that the Vingroup Science and Technology Scholarship Program provides young talents not only with a strong launchpad through financial support, but more importantly, with opportunities to connect with scientists and experts at VinUniversity through research clusters aligned with their fields of expertise. The program also supports the establishment of co-supervision mechanisms with professors at overseas universities, helping scholars build a foundation for collaboration with Vietnam before, during, and after completing their studies.

The ceremony also featured a sharing by Dr. Nguyen Duc An, a Vingroup Scholar alumnus who completed his PhD in Computer Science at the University of Oxford and now serves as Acting Head of AI Data Infrastructure at VinMotion. His journey embodies the spirit at the heart of the program: going abroad to learn, broaden one’s knowledge, and return to contribute to Vietnam’s development.

Representing the 2026 Vingroup Scholars, Doan Minh Quan, who is going to pursue his PhD at Imperial College London, shared his thoughts and aspirations before embarking on this new journey:

“This scholarship is not just about me. I believe one of my most important responsibilities is to become a bridge between Vietnam and the international scientific community. In my case, I hope to become a bridge between Imperial College London and Vietnamese universities. I am already engaged with the Center for Materials Innovation and Technology at VinUni. During my PhD, I hope to play a practical role in turning this shared aspiration into meaningful collaborations through joint projects that benefit both institutions. After completing my PhD, I hope to bring back what I have learned and open new opportunities for future generations of Vietnamese students and researchers.”

Established in 2019, the Vingroup Science and Technology Scholarship Program aims to identify, nurture, and empower Vietnamese talents with the capacity, aspiration, and commitment to contribute to the development of science and technology in Vietnam.

After eight years of implementation, the program has awarded more than 270 scholarships to Vietnamese talents. Nearly 120 scholars have completed their studies and are now working at universities, research institutes, and technology companies across Vietnam. They represent a new generation of talents in strategic technology fields, helping address Vietnam’s growing demand for high-quality human resources.
