THE OPEN MEDICAL INSTITUTE, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH VINUNIVERSITY, VIETNAM TO DEVELOP TALENTED HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS AND TO ADVANCE HEALTHCARE QUALITY IN VIETNAM AND SOUTHEAST ASIA

Aligning completely with the shared goal to nurture the next generation of talented healthcare professionals, the Open Medical Institute (OMI) and VinUniversity through its College of Health Sciences signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on March 8, 2023, representing an important milestone for both institutions as Vietnam will be officially the third location of OMI in the world and unique location in Southeast Asia. This long-term partnership aims to provide doctors from Vietnam and Southeast Asia with new high-quality academic opportunities, enhance their knowledge and skills, and contribute to the development of the healthcare system in the region.

Among the many aspects of this partnership, VinUni and OMI will convene two OMI Vietnam seminars this summer focusing on “Pediatric Emergency Medicine” and “Anesthesiology, Critical Care, and Pulmonology”. The seminars are to be held at VinUniversity Campus, Vinhomes Ocean Park, Gia Lam, Hanoi, Vietnam, led by world-renowned experts from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and Weill Cornell Medicine. The seminars will consist of state-of-the-art lectures, case discussions, case presentations, as well as a simulation training that provides an exciting hands-on experience with international standards. Thirty successful physicians will be selected per seminar through an open application process, and receive a fellowship covering tuition, course materials, travel and full board. Accommodation will be provided for fellows from outside of Hanoi.

These seminars offer a unique opportunity for physicians to learn from leading experts in the field, gain invaluable experience in the latest medical practices. We invite all qualified physicians from Vietnam and Southeast Asia to apply now to become one of fellows in our two OMI Vietnam seminars this summer.

The Open Medical Institute (OMI) is an international initiative for medical professionals, which, through education and research, aims to improve healthcare on a global scale. The program was founded in 1993 by the American Austrian Foundation (AAF) in close collaboration with Weill Cornell Medical College and the Open Society Foundations (OSF). Over the years, many leading medical institutions in the United States and Europe joined the initiative, providing highly committed faculty who donate their time and expertise, sharing knowledge and experience with colleagues from around the world. Fellows trained by the OMI are equipped to significantly improve healthcare delivery in their countries. To prevent brain drain and initiate lasting brain gain, the OMI offers several postgraduate programs and mentors healthcare professionals over the course of their career.
