VinUni’s Solution for Medication Error Detection Won AI Awards 2022
Congratulations to VAIPE – An Intelligent Healthcare System for Vietnamese People, run by the research team at VinUni-Illinois Smart Healthcare Center and colleagues – for winning the AI Awards 2022. This was also the AI-based product that received the highest votes in this year’s awards.
The AI Awards is part of AI4VN 2022 – Vietnam’s AI Fair, hosted by VnExpress under the guidance of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
VAIPE provides a mobile application that collects, manages, and analyzes personal health data, as well as automatically identifies medications from pill images. Medication habits, heart rate, blood pressure, height index, weight, etc., will be collected and analyzed, in order to ensure safe use of medication, provide warning in case of wrong medication, and detect early signs of dangerous diseases.
VAIPE makes use of the latest technology in artificial intelligence (AI) and data science, ensuring low-cost as well as mass and easy accessibility for the community.
Dr. Pham Huy Hieu, Deputy Director of VinUni-Illinois Smart Health Center, co-leader of the project, shared: “This solution provides automatic and accurate data analysis, which is superior to other existing methods”.
The team is planning to work with third parties to integrate this solution into smart medical and telemedicine platforms by providing the core technology for partners to deploy at large scale. “It is expected that the beta version will be available by the end of 2022 and test evaluation available within 6 months”, said Dr. Pham Huy Hieu.
