Vingroup awarded over 120 billion VND Scholarships for 40 talented Students and Researchers in Science and Technology
On July 6, 2023, the “Science and Technology Scholarship for Master’s and Doctoral Studies Abroad” program, sponsored by Vingroup (Vingroup Science and Technology Scholarship), held an award ceremony for 40 Masters, Doctoral students and Postdoc scholars. The total value of the scholarships awarded this year amounted to 12 billion VND.
These outstanding Vietnamese students and scholars were selected from over 700 applications in the fields of science and technology to study at top universities worldwide.
The Vingroup Science and Technology Scholarship program was established in 2019 with the aim of seeking Vietnamese talents to nurture and develop them into leaders in the future development of science and technology in Vietnam. Each year, Vingroup will award fully-funded scholarships for Master’s and Ph.D. degrees to Vietnamese talents pursuing studies in key fields at excellent educational institutions in 50 countries around the world. After the first five cohorts, nearly 180 students have been awarded scholarships for Ph.D. and Master’s degrees and have studied at 38 top universities worldwide.
Starting from 2023, the Vingroup Science and Technology Scholarship program has expanded to include scholars, postdoctoral researchers, and the Integrated Degree between VinUni and renowned universities worldwide. This means that 3rd-year VinUni undergraduate students can now pursue a Master’s degree at these prestigious universities with full scholarship from Vingroup..
Nguyen Vu Thu Hien, a student at the Institute of Engineering and Computer Science, VinUniversity, is one of the scholarship recipients this year through the Master’s program partnership between VinUni and the University of Pennsylvania. “The scholarship has helped me fulfill my dream of studying at UPenn, one of the top Ivy League universities in the world. Choosing computer science as my major, I believe it is a crucial field with high applicability in the future. My desire is to return and become a lecturer at VinUni, helping future students at VinUni have the same wonderful experiences and opportunities as me,” shared Thu Hien.
Students had the opportunity to listen to valuable insights from Le Phuong Anh, a student currently pursuing a Master’s program at Harvard University through the Vingroup Science and Technology Scholarship. She shared two pieces of advice for the new students this year. First is to find a research mentor who shares the same interests and suits your working style, someone who is willing to support your career development. And the second is to avoid peer pressure, as Phuong Anh believes this pressure is completely normal. Over time, she realized that the most abundant resource that postgraduate programs will provide is not just the academic subjects but the connections with people.
Therefore, the best approach is to learn and collaborate with others instead of focusing on competition. She encourages students to connect with their peers and learn from them, as well as from advisors and professors.
