Biography
Dr. Sahni received the B.E. (Hons) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India, in 2015 and the PhD degree from the Department of Computing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, in 2021. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at the College of Engineering and Computer Science, VinUniversity, Vietnam. Prior to that, he worked as a Research Fellow at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University from July 2025 to December 2025. He also worked as a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Building Environment and Energy Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, from April 2022 to June 2025. Before that, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Computing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University from April 2021 to March 2022. His research interests include Edge Computing and Intelligence, Internet of Things, and Smart Buildings. He has published papers in several top-tier conferences and journals, including ACM/IEEE SEC, IEEE SOSE, IEEE CLOUD, IEEE TPDS, IEEE TMC, IEEE TCC, IEEE TSC, IEEE TII, IEEE IoTJ, Elsevier FGCS, and Computer Networks.
Dr. Sahni has received several awards and recognitions, including the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship 2016-2020, the 2020 IEEE TCCLD Research Innovation Award (Team award), and the 2024 IEEE TCC Best Paper Award. Dr. Sahni has been an active member of the professional community and served as a program and organizing committee member for international conferences. He is also an active reviewer for several top journals, including ACM CSUR, ACM TIOT, IEEE/ACM TNET, IEEE TPDS, IEEE TCC, IEEE TWC, IEEE TVT, IEEE TMC, and many others. He is currently a member of IEEE and ACM.
