Biography
Dr. Chi Tran has 16 year experience as a faculty member of the Faculty of Biology, Hanoi University of Science. Her research focused on abiotic stress reaction in micro-organism and the potential role of the hepatotoxin microcystins in the producer organisms in reaction to environmental stress, using different methods, including fluorescence, fatty acid profiling by gas chromatography, gene isolation and quantitative realtime PCR. As an educator, she co-authored textbooks in Biology for undergraduate and highschool students. She also provided training for gifted students, members of Vienam National Olympiad team in Biology. From 2014 to 2017, Dr. Chi worked at National Hospital of Dermatology and Venereology (NHDV) and was responsible for molecular diagnostics as well as laboratory quality control. Before joining Vinmec Healthcare System, she was Deputy Head of Department of Heamatology, Biochemistry, Immunology and Histopathology at NHDV. At Vinmec, she was appointed a site-PI role of the Vietnam Colorectal Cancer ans Polyps Research (VinCAPR), a collaborative study between Vinmec, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC). VinCAPR is the very first population-based research project in Vietnam that provides such a large-scale colorectal polyp and cancer screening, coupled with epidemiologic and genetic risk factor study.
Chi Tran is a biologist, graduated from Hanoi University of Sciences (1993). She obtained her MSc degree from University of Sciences and Technology of Lille (1997) and her PhD from National Museum of Natural History of Paris (MNHN), France (2012).
