Biography

Dr. Simon S. Park received his B.Sc. (Honours) and M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto and his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of British Columbia under the supervision of Prof. Yusuf Altintas. He was a Professor of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Calgary (2004–2025), where he also held research chairs and multiple innovation fellowships. In 2024, he was elected as a Fellow of the International Academy of Production Engineers (CIRP).

Dr. Park has led numerous international research programs in advanced manufacturing, machining, advanced materials, digital twins, sensors, hydrogen technologies, batteries, and biomedical systems, supported by over $37M in competitive funding. He has co-founded multiple startups translating his research into practice, spanning energy, AI, healthcare, and clean technologies.
