College of Arts and Sciences

Adjunct Faculty

Biography

Pham Minh Duc currently serves as an Adjunct Faculty at VinUniversity. This appointment follows his four-year tenure as a Teaching Assistant at the same institution from 2022 to 2026. He is a devoted scholar who approaches research and education with a deep sense of humility. He constantly seeks to learn from the intellectual predecessors who established the foundations of the discipline. His work reflects the definition by G.K. Chesterton that philosophy is simply thought that has been thought out. Consequently, he strives to build an academic environment defined by rigorous thinking and systematic inquiry.

He is currently completing his Master of Arts in Philosophy at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. This program spans the period from 2022 to 2025. Prior to this, he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy at the same university between 2018 and 2022. His research portfolio includes participation in several significant academic projects. He contributed to studies regarding the Philosophy of Science and the critical updates to Dialectical Materialism. Furthermore, he played a role in the Vietnam National University-level research project titled “Developing Human Ecology from the Perspective of Marxist Philosophy in Vietnam.”

– Research field: General Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Technology, Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, Metaphysics

– Research Project: The Incommensurability of Incommensurability, Being and Nothingness, Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, Taoism .

- Pham Minh Duc conducts specialized research into the textual history and conceptual architecture of Daoism (Daojiao – 道教). His project focuses specifically on two seminal works that define the intellectual trajectory of the tradition. These are the Scripture of Great Peace (Taiping Jing – 太平經) and the Seven Tablets in a Cloudy Satchel (Yunji Qiqian – 雲笈七籤). He examines the Scripture of Great Peace (Taiping Jing – 太平經) to reconstruct the early formation of Daoist theology (Shenxue – 神學). The study analyzes how the text formulates the ideal of Great Peace (Taiping – 太平) as a state of perfect cosmic equilibrium. It investigates the doctrine of the Celestial Masters (Tianshi – 天師) and the intricate relationship between heaven and the human realm through the mechanism of Cosmic Resonance (Ganying – 感應).
