Pham Ba Nha, MD, PhD

Assoc. Prof. Ba Nha Pham, MD, PhD is Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at VinUniversity and Chair of the Obstetrics Council of Vinmec Healthcare System. In these leadership roles, he provides academic direction for obstetrics and gynecology education at VinUniversity while contributing to professional governance, clinical quality management, and the development of obstetrics and gynecology services across the Vinmec Healthcare System. With more than 30 years of experience in clinical medicine, medical education, and research, he has made important contributions to advancing women’s health and obstetric care in Vietnam.

Before joining VinUniversity, he served as Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Bach Mai Hospital from 2014 to 2023. Bach Mai Hospital is recognized as the first fully comprehensive special-class general hospital in Vietnam and plays a major role in tertiary healthcare, medical education, and clinical research nationwide. Earlier in his career, he worked for many years at Hanoi Medical University where he contributed to teaching, clinical training, and mentoring medical students, residents, and postgraduate physicians.

He obtained his MD degree from Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy, his Master’s degree in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1995, and his PhD in Obstetrics and Gynecology from Hanoi Medical University in 2007. He was appointed Associate Professor in 2010 and was awarded the title of Meritorious Doctor in 2017. His research interests include maternal health, reproductive medicine, and obstetric complications.
