Ly Quang Viet, PhD
College of Engineering and Computer Science
Assistant Professor - Environmental Engineering
Biography
Dr. Ly Quang Viet received the B.E. degree in Infrastructure Engineering (Water Supply and Drainage) from Thuyloi University in 2009 and the MSc degree in Environmental Sanitation from Ghent University, Belgium in 2013, and Ph.D. degree in Environmental Engineering from Sejong University, South Korea in 2018. He was a Postdoc researcher at Sejong University (2018), Tiangong University (2019-2020) and Tsinghua University (2022). He worked as a Senior Researcher at Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Korea (2022-2025). In 2024, he was a Visiting Scholar at Chair of Urban Water Systems Engineering, Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany. His current research activity is focused on water or wastewater treatment technologies for removal of emerging organic contaminants, and role of dissolved organic matter in aquatic environment by chemometrics and machine learning.
Dr. Ly received Research Opportunity Week (TUM) (2020), Golden Globe Awards for outstanding young Vietnamese scientists (Vietnam) (2020), and BrainPool Fellowship for supporting outstanding Oversea Researchers (Korea NRF) (2022). In 2023, his publication in Water Research (WR) was regarded by Clarivate as the Highly Cited Paper. In 2024, he was invited as a keynote speaker at Global Research Network Seoul, Korea. He has authored or co-authored in 46 papers published in international journals. He has served as a regular reviewer for many top-tier journals on the relevant field, such as WR, Chemical Engineering Journal (CEJ), Journal of Membrane Science (JMS), Separation and Purification Technology (SPT), and STOTEN. Since 2019, he served as an Editorial Board Member for Environmental Technology and Innovation (Q1).
