Biography

Associate Professor Dr Chiung-Jung (Jo) Wu has high level of tertiary teaching (Australian Qualification Framework, Level 10), leadership and management capacity, as well as research, clinical and professional experience. She currently collaborates with clinicians, consumers, and international experts to continue advancing knowledge and making significant contributions to promoting self-management incorporating telehealth for patients with comorbidities. Planned projects include using AI, data-driven in healthcare, refinement of intervention programs incorporating telehealth and peer supporters in the delivery of the programs, evaluating these delivery modes for transitional care and undertaking the intervention in different cultural contexts.

Jo has successfully awarded several competitive research grants, received international award for her work in self-management for patients with comorbidities of cardiac disease and diabetes and telehealth (Winner, Bronze Medal, European Society for Person Centred Healthcare in 2015). She has been recognized as a Fellow, Australian College of Nursing (FACN) in nursing profession since 2013. Jo has published papers, including systematic reviews (quantitative and qualitative) and original research in refereed journals.

Jo has over 16 years teaching in higher education environment and extensive clinical experience in managing large cohorts of students and staff across various levels as well as her ability to manage and lead multidisciplinary teams in Australia. She is a fully accredited PhD supervisor and has experience supervising local and international students in PhD, Masters and Honours projects. Jo provides mentorships to academics, researchers, clinicians, formerly was the Postgraduate and Honours Program Coordinator (5 Programs), Higher Degree Research Coordinator, at University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia, has been awarded Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (SHFEA), an international professional recognition as a leader of teaching and learning.

Jo has strong links with clinical, industry, academic collaborators and international experts. She also holds the position of Honorary Research Fellow with the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Australia; Research Fellow, SIU, Thailand; Chair of JBI Expert Reference Group, Cardiovascular Field (Global). She has been invited as Visiting Scholar and an international expert on academic board, as well as being the leader of research clusters previously. Jo has been invited to be an Editorial Advisor/Associate Editor/Guest Editor/Editorial Board/Reviewer for peer reviewed journals, a reviewer/assessor/panel of national and international competitive research grant applications.
