On October 26, 2024, the Career Readiness & Mentoring workshop marked the start of a journey to equip and develop VinUni students with industry trends and emerging skills for their future careers.
This inspiring workshop brought together six industry leaders from various industries: VinFast, VinAI, Bosch, Deloitte, and Navigos Search. The Alumni, Industry and Development Department (AID) would like to extend our gratitude to our partners, speakers, faculty members, alumni and especially the students, who all made this event memorable.
The speakers shared their insights on emerging industry trends, the essential skills of the future, and advice for career growth. From embracing continuous learning to understanding how to leverage new technologies and sustainable practices, each speaker offered valuable perspectives through their own real-world experience, which helps students and young professionals thrive in a fast-paced working environment:
𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝟭: 𝗠𝗿. 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱 𝗘𝗱𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗼 𝗙𝗮𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝘀𝗺𝗲
– Title: Director of ESG, VinFast
– Key Takeaways: With over 20 years in sustainability and climate change, Mr. David emphasized that careers become “obsolete” if we stop learning and evolving. He encouraged young professionals to take charge of their own development by studying after office hours to stay competitive in a fast-paced world

He highlighted Bosch’s Activator Scholarship program, designed to encourage young talents with pioneering ideas in technology and engineering. Dr. Gibson emphasized that the tech industry is in need of innovative solutions and encouraged students to pursue bold, transformative ideas.

– Key Takeaways: With a background spanning 15 years at Google, Airbnb, and CoHost AI, Mr. Cuong discussed Moore’s Law and the rapid pace of technological advancement. He stressed that both technology and people must continuously evolve to avoid becoming “obsolete.” While ChatGPT and similar tools can excel at standardized tests, he emphasized that real value comes from deeply understanding the logic behind these tests to drive meaningful impact beyond just passing scores.

– Key Takeaways: With 13 years in recruitment and HR consulting, Ms. Thuy shared insights on the evolving work model, now a blend of remote and hybrid options, and the growing focus on employee well-being. She encouraged students to find mentors and never hesitate to ask for support, as mentors provide guidance for both career and personal growth.
