CARNEGIE MELLON UNIVERSITY

Overview

CMU is a global research university known for its world-class, interdisciplinary programs: arts, business, computing, engineering, humanities, policy and science (ranked 58 on the QS World University Rankings 2025).

CMU boasts 21 Nobel laureates, 13 Oscars, and 142 Emmys, highlighting its global impact in research and education excellence. The MOU officially marks the launch of Integrated Bachelor’s–Master’s (3+2) programs between the two institutions. To date, VinUni is one of just two global partners, and the only in Vietnam, to establish integrated programs with Heinz College at CMU.

At-a-Glance 

Through this program, after completing three years of study at VinUniversity, students may continue to pursue a Master’s degree at Heinz College, Carnegie Mellon University for a duration of one to two years. These integrated pathways enable students to earn both a Bachelor’s degree from VinUniversity and a Master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University in a shorter timeframe than traditional academic routes.

[3+1.5] MISM-BIDA – Master of Information Systems Management – Business Intelligence and Data Analytics (3 semesters: Fall, Spring, Fall)

[3+2] MSISPM – Master of Science in Information Security Policy and Management (4 semesters: Fall, Spring, Fall, Spring)

[3+2] MSPPM – Master of Science in Public Policy and Management (4 semesters: Fall, Spring, Fall, Spring)

[3+2] MSPPM-DA – Master of Science in Public Policy and Management – Data Analytics (4 semesters: Fall, Spring, Fall, Spring)

[3+2] MSHCA – Master of Science in Health Care Analytics and Information Technology (4 semesters: Fall, Spring, Fall, Spring)

[3+2] MAM – Master of Arts Management (4 semesters: Fall, Spring, Fall, Spring)

[3+2] MEIM – Master of Entertainment Industry Management (4 semesters: Fall, Spring, Fall, Spring)

Number of students 

10 students per year, with a maximum of 5 students per Master’s program.

Application Timeline

VinUniversity students may apply for the 3+2 programs for Fall 2026 intake, meaning that VinUni students from the Class of 2023 onward are eligible to apply.

Admissions Requirements

  • Minimum 2.5/4.0
  • Official GRE (or GMAT) score report – requirements vary by program, with possible waivers available
  • Official English Language Proficiency Exam Result (TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo) – requirements vary by program
  • Meet the current prerequisites for enrollment for each program. The details will be sent in the call for application.
  • Application fee is waived.
