VinBrain Experts Are Appointed Associate Lecturers at VinUniversity

Practical experience is one of the factors that VinUniversity always strives for in the process of creating a learning environment for students. Beside the on-campus study time, VinUniversity students need to have opportunities to access life skills and knowledge to use in practical circumstances, so VinUniversity focuses on connecting students with leading experts in each field of study. Affirming this priority, we are committed to inviting experienced professionals to participate in teaching and research activities at the University.

As part of the cooperation strategy with VinBrain, VinUniversity has appointed three VinBrain researchers as associate lecturers in the College of Engineering and Computer Science.

  • Dr. Nguyen Do Trung Chanh

Dr. Nguyen Do Trung Chanh received his Master’s degree in Nano – IT Fusion from Seoul National University of Science and Technology (SeoulTech) and his doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). He has eight research works published in international journals and was the former Head of the Computer Vision Department, Worldwide Innovation Center, FPT Software Company (FSOFT).

  • Dr. Tran Minh Quan

After receiving a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from KAIST, Dr. Tran Minh Quan continued to complete his PhD program in Computer Science at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (Korea). Dr. Quan has published 14 research works in prestigious international scientific journals. His research focuses on the application of computer science in biomedical image processing, improving the quality of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

  • Dr. Nguyen Van Thang

Dr. Nguyen Van Thang received his Master’s and doctorate degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Seoul National University (Korea). Before working at VinBrain, Dr. Thang was a manager of Samsung Group’s AI Research Lab. In addition, he is a reviewer of the scientific journal named IEEE Access. With the primary research area of computer vision, image/video processing and computer science, he has published eight outstanding research projects internationally.

These three associate lecturers will participate in collaborative VinBrain and VinUniversity activities, such as:

  1. Implementation of the Fast Track Internship Program: VinUniversity students who are chosen have the opportunity to do an internship at VinBrain right from the first year before their official enrollment under the direct guidance of VinBrain experts.
  2. Research collaboration: VinUniversity faculty and VinBrain researchers will participate in joint research topics. The two sides will jointly propose an interdisciplinary research cooperation project in the field of telemedicine.
  3. Scientific seminars: Holding seminars about the application of AI in bioinformatics and telemedicine services, scheduled for October 2020.
  4. Teaching: VinBrain experts will participate in teaching, inspiring and creating excitement for freshmen with practical knowledge.
  5. Cooperation with the University of California: Launching tripartite cooperation between VinUniversity – VinBrain – University of California, San Diego (UCSD) with seminars and lectures with the participation of UCSD professors.
  6. STEM Program: Organizing VinFast Formula 1 race and mini-games within the framework of STEME Day 2020.
