Biography
Distinguished Physician, Assoc. Prof., Dr. Hoang Gia Du received comprehensive and specialized training at Hanoi Medical University, where he graduated as a Doctor of General Medicine in 2000, completed his Master’s degree and Residency in Surgery in 2005, and successfully defended his Doctor of Medicine thesis in Neurosurgery in 2012.
With over 20 years of in-depth experience, Dr. Hoang Gia Du is recognized as one of Vietnam’s leading spine specialists. Before joining the Vinmec Healthcare System, he held key positions such as Deputy Head of the Spine Surgery Department at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital and Head of the Orthopedics and Spine Surgery Department at Bach Mai Hospital.
He has been a pioneer in applying AI to treatment, including robotic surgery, 3D navigation surgery, and intraoperative neuromonitoring systems. His expertise covers a wide range of complex areas such as spinal trauma, degenerative spine diseases, spinal deformities, disc herniation, spinal stenosis, tumors, scoliosis, and spondylolisthesis. He has successfully treated challenging and complex cases, including high cervical spine injuries, scoliosis, artificial disc replacement, artificial vertebral body replacement, minimally invasive surgery, endoscopic surgery, and many other advanced techniques in spinal neurosurgery.
Beyond his excellence in clinical practice, Dr. Hoang Gia Du is also an influential scientist and educator. He has served as principal investigator for two sub-projects of national-level research and eight institutional-level projects, and has published numerous valuable studies in both domestic and international scientific journals. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Spine Surgery Association and the Vietnam Association of 3D Medical Technology. As a visiting lecturer at various medical universities, he actively shares his knowledge and frequently serves as chair and presenter at major scientific conferences.
His tireless contributions have been honored with many prestigious awards, including Certificates of Merit from the Minister of Health, the Vietnam Health Trade Union, and the Prime Minister, as well as the title of “Distinguished Physician” conferred by the President of Vietnam.
