Introducing Keynote Speakers for the Panel II

About Panel II

Panel II focuses on the evolving roles of different types of technology in services such as robotics, automation, artificial intelligence, virtual reality and beyond in the design and execution of services. 

In this session, QUIS18 is honored to introduce three keynote speakers: Professor Jochen Wirtz, Professor Janet McColl-Kennedy and Professor Pedro Oliveira, to share their insights on the use of technology from different service industries such as hospitality, retail, and healthcare. In addition to the advantages of using technology, the speakers will also discuss the challenges and drawbacks of excessive use of technology in services.


About the Speakers

Professor Jochen Wirtz is Professor of Marketing at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Academic Scholar at the Cornell Institute for Healthy Futures (CIHF) at Cornell University, USA. His research since has focused on service marketing, with more than 100 published academic journal articles (incl. in Harvard Business Review), 130 conference presentations, and 40 book chapters. Professor Wirtz has received over 45 awards, in recognition of his excellence in research and teaching. 

Professor Janet R. McColl-Kennedy is Professor of Marketing, and Lead, Innovation Pathways at The University of Queensland (UQ), Australia and is Honorary Visiting Professor and Fellow at the University of Cambridge, UK. Professor McColl-Kennedy is not only a leading senior marketing academic in Australia, but she is also internationally recognized as a leading researcher in Service Science. She has published over 170 publications (incl. 86 being refereed international journal articles, 20 book chapters/books and 67 refereed international conference proceedings) in prestigious journals. 

Professor Pedro Oliveira is Dean and Calouste Gulbenkian Chair Professor at Nova School of Business and Economics (NovaSBE), Portugal. He is also Professor MSO at Copenhagen Business School, the Founder and President of Patient Innovation (www.patient-innovation.com), Academic Fellow at the Cornell Institute for Healthy Futures at Cornell University. His research has been published in prestigious journals (incl. Production and Operations Management (POM), Research Policy, Organizational Research Methods, Journal of Product Innovation Management (JPIM), and many more).
