Move - in Dorm

Move-In:
Before moving into the VinUniversity residence, students must complete all necessary check-in paperwork. They are expected to arrive on campus during the designated check-in times unless prior arrangements have been made with the Residential Office. Students are required to:

  • Bring a copy of their notarized ID card (passport and visa copies for international students).
  • Complete the dormitory form.
  • Read and sign the apartment check-in form (one form per apartment).
  • Fill out the waiver form.
  • Complete the medical record form.

During the first week of residence, students will be given a tour of the campus services, places, and facilities. It’s important to note that by taking possession of a room key and signing the check-in form, residents indicate their understanding and acceptance of the Residential Life Guidelines.

They are responsible for inspecting their room within one day of receiving the key and completing the check-in procedures to ensure the room is in good condition and equipped as listed on the asset handover list. Absence of a report will be taken as acknowledgment that the room is damage-free, and any damages found during check-out will be the student’s responsibility. Students are encouraged to read the Residential Life Guidelines before checking in.

Check-Out:
All students are required to check out of their room after the final exams and assessment week of each semester. The due date for check-out will be communicated to the students. To complete check-out, residents need to:

  • Schedule an inspection time with the Residential Office.
  • Register their move-out day and time.
  • Clean their living spaces, remove personal items or decorations, ensuring the room is in the same condition as when they moved in. They should also dispose of all garbage, recyclables, and abandoned items appropriately.
  • Complete the check-out form (inspection, handover form) and return access keys, and borrowed items (if any) on the move-out day.

Main events

1. Making Bánh Trôi:

At the VinUni dormitory, numerous bonding activities are organized for students, including making Bánh trôi during the Tết Hàn Thực (Cold Food Festival). Instructors, upperclassmen, and friends join students in crafting delicious and beautiful Bánh trôi, creating a homely atmosphere. Besides Bánh trôi, various other dishes also contribute to the warm gathering ambiance.

2. “Ice Cream with the Provost”:

A VinUni tradition at the start of the academic year involves students enjoying ice cream with the Provost. This casual gathering is an excellent chance for students to share ideas, listen to stories, or simply relish cool, refreshing ice cream together. Despite being a foreigner, the Provost has a deep understanding of Vietnamese culture, including enjoying Trang Tien ice cream.

3. Spring Cleaning Festival:

In spring, a “festival” is held where students clean the dormitory together to welcome a fresh start. The cleanest rooms earn gifts from the Residential Life Officers, fostering a sense of community and responsibility.

4. Green Sports Day:

VinUni actively promotes extracurricular and physical activities. The “Green Sports Festival,” organized in collaboration with the Student Affairs Department and other departments, features a range of sports from swimming, soccer, basketball, to Quidditch and Frisbee. Winners get to plant trees with their name tags in the university garden, contributing to a greener environment.

5. “Group Birthday”:

Quarterly shared birthday celebrations at the dorm include a “XXXXXL-sized” cake for all. It’s a special day where students can celebrate with roommates and friends, adding a unique and festive touch to their birthdays.
