Biography
Dr. Van-Truong Nguyen received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in mechatronics engineering from the School of Mechanical Engineering, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Hanoi, Vietnam, in 2012 and 2014, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Taipei, Taiwan, in 2018.
Since 2025, he has been serving as an Affiliated Faculty at the College of Engineering & Computer Science, VinUniversity, and as Director of Sofware and AI at VinMotion, Vietnam. Since 2013, he has been a Lecturer with the Faculty of Mechatronics Engineering (ME), HaUI, Hanoi. He is former Dean of the Faculty of Mechatronics, former Founder and Director of Doctoral Program of Mechatronics Engineering, former Director of Mechatronics Engineering (Master’s Program and Undergraduate Program), former Founder and Director of Robot and Artificial Intelligence Program, Head of the Intelligent Robotics Laboratory, SMAE, HaUI, Hanoi, Vietnam.
He has authored and co-authored for one book and over 70 journals/conference papers and most are published in the prestigious journals such as IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems, ISA Transaction, Journal of Manufacturing Processes, etc. His current research interests include robotics, mobile robots, AI, intelligent control systems, and computer vision applications.
Dr. Truong was a recipient of the National Outstanding Innovation Award in 2015, the Best Student Paper Award of the International Automatic Control Conference in 2018. He currently serves as the reviewer of more than 30 refereed journals and conference papers in the areas of robotics, intelligent control, fuzzy systems, neural networks, and computer vision applications such as the IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, the IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems, the Optimization and Engineering, the IEEE Access, the International Journal of Fuzzy Systems, the ISA Transactions, the Artificial Intelligence Review, the Information Sciences, the Journal of Intelligent & Robotic Systems, the Measurement and Control, etc.
