VinUniversity Engages Leading Academic Hubs in the UK and Hong Kong

April 30, 2026

In April 2026, VinUniversity continued its Global Academic Recruitment Tour across two of the world’s most notable academic hubs — the United Kingdom and Hong Kong — connecting with scholars, researchers, and academic leaders from prominent institutions.

These engagements are part of a broader effort to build meaningful academic connections globally, while bringing conversations about research, collaboration, and long-term academic development closer to Vietnam.

The United Kingdom: Expanding Dialogue Within a Dynamic Academic Ecosystem

From the hallowed halls of Imperial College London, University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, to University College London — VinUniversity brought together nearly 80 scholars in a series of meaningful conversations about the future of Vietnamese academia.

The highlight came on April 10 at UCL, where more than 40 international academics gathered for an open dialogue on research collaboration, faculty recruitment, and Vietnam’s growing role in the global academic landscape. The event was made possible through the dedicated support of the Vietnamese Intellectual Society in the UK and Northern Ireland (VIS).

Vice President of Administration Pham Thanh Hao presented VinUniversity’s long-term vision alongside flagship talent initiatives — VinUni 500 and the VinUniversity Assistant Professorships (VAP) — signaling a strategic, sustained commitment to attracting world-class talent to Vietnam.

Hong Kong: Strengthening Connections Across Leading Institutions

Following the UK, VinUniversity continued our engagements in Hong Kong, meeting with more than 70 academics across leading universities, as well as at the sidelines of the THE Asia Universities Summit 2026.

Discussions focused on practical questions: academic direction, research environment, resources, and what it means to build an emerging university with global ambitions.

Notably, many Vietnamese scholars based in Hong Kong expressed a deep sense of connection to home, along with genuine interest in contributing through research collaboration with VinUniversity.

The Hong Kong visit also marked a significant step forward in institutional partnership building. VinUniversity held formal discussions with representatives from HKU, HKUST, CityUHK and CUHK — exploring joint research, faculty exchange, and collaborative academic programs. These engagements reflect VinUniversity’s growing ambition to embed itself within Asia’s premier academic networks, creating lasting bridges between Vietnam and the region’s most influential institutions.

Looking Ahead

VinUniversity will continue its journey through July, with upcoming stops across Australia, the United States, France, Spain, Belgium, Japan, and more — each visit deepening ties with the global academic community and bringing Vietnam’s academic future into sharper focus.
