Signing Ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between VinUniversity and UL Solutions: Drive Innovation and Technical Collaboration

On July 30, 2025, VinUniversity (VinUni) and UL Solutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at VinUniversity, establishing a strategic partnership to advance innovation, research, and knowledge exchange in key technology domains. The event brought together senior leaders from both organizations.

Attending the ceremony were representatives from UL Solutions, including Mr. Suresh Sugavanam – Regional Vice President for Australia, New Zealand, South Asia, and Southeast Asia; Mr. Mathieu Do – Country Manager of UL Solutions in Vietnam; and Mr. David Nguyen – Global Account Manager; Mrs.Nguyen Thu Cuc – Lab Manager (Hai Phong Branch).

From VinUniversity, the attendees included Prof. Mai Lan Le – President; Dr. Viet Bac Phung – Director of the Research Management Office (RMO); and Dr. Nguyen Van Anh – Head of Careers, Alumni, Industry, and Development (CAID), along with other representatives from both CAID and RMO.

According to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), VinUniversity and UL Solutions will collaborate in the following key areas:

Research and Innovation: Joint projects in emerging technologies such as renewable energy, energy storage systems (ESS), functional safety, cybersecurity for embedded systems and IoT, AI/ML reliability, ESG, and emissions reporting.

Technical Services: UL Solutions will be considered a preferred partner for testing, certification, compliance, and sustainability services in VinUni projects.

Data Acceptance Program (DAP): Exploration of VinUni’s participation in UL’s DAP, allowing its laboratories to produce UL-recognized test data.

Internships and Training: Provision of hands-on experiences through internships, lab visits, and training programs for students and researchers.

Co-Branding and Knowledge Exchange: Organization of joint events to promote innovation, global standards, and student engagement, with UL Solutions as a strategic partner.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlines a mutual commitment to strengthening the linkage between academia and industry by aligning education with international standards and practical expertise. This partnership provides VinUniversity students and faculty with global exposure while reinforcing UL Solutions’ engagement in Vietnam’s innovation ecosystem.

Through joint efforts, both parties seek to foster innovation and generate sustainable, long-term contributions to scientific and technological development.
