[Job opportunity] Research Management Advisor

VinUniversity is seeking a Research Management Advisor under a service contract to support research management and capacity building.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Management and supervision of internal research funds and RISE clusters:

  • Participate in the design and implementation of internal research funding programs;
  • Participate in developing, reviewing and updating policies related to the operation of internal research funds;
  • Advise and support the management, supervision and evaluation of the implementation of programs and projects using internal funds;
  • Provide advisory support in the management of research funds sponsored by the Group.

2. Research Management System (RMS) Upgrade

  • Provide strategic advice on the direction of RMS upgrades and coordinate discussions with relevant stakeholders to ensure the Research Management System remains flexible and streamlined;
  • Participate in reviewing and validating upgraded trial versions of the system; advise on feasibility, process improvements, and optimal solutions.

3. Governance of Research Centers

  • Advise on the development of governance regulations for research centers.
  • Provide advisory support and assist in monitoring the operation of RISE research funds within research centers to ensure transparency and compliance with university regulations.

4. External funding:

  • Proactively research and analyze domestic and foreign funding trends to support the formulation of long-term resource mobilization strategies for VinUni;
  • Advise on structuring the funding database and monitoring the progress of submitted applications, thereby supporting management-level decision making;
  • Support research groups in finding suitable funding opportunities, assessing funding conditions, supporting the drafting and submission of funding applications to ensure quality and timeliness.
  • Participate in reviewing funding agreement conditions and assist in drafting and submitting grant applications to ensure quality and timely submission.

3. Compliance & Reporting:

  • Advise and coordinate with relevant departments and staff to monitor the implementation of funded projects to ensure compliance with internal regulations and funding requirements;
  • Synthesize and analyze periodic reports on progress, budget efficiency and impact of research programs;
  • Propose improvements to enhance transparency, efficiency and risk control in funding management;
  • Coordinate the management of international funding programs as assigned.
  • Provide advisory support on research ethics and intellectual property (IP) matters

4. Capacity building & professional support:

  • Advise RMO staff on funding processes, budgeting, project management, and reporting;
  • Participate in developing and updating tools, forms and guidance to standardize processes and support more effective research activities;
  • Regularly update and disseminate best practices in funding management and academic research.
  • Advise in analyzing and handling cases related to conflict of interest (COI) and research integrity.

5. Other tasks: Perform other tasks assigned by the Research Director

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master‘s degree in Finance, Accounting, Project Management, Business Administration or relevant fields from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of experience in project management is prefered.
  • Experience in a higher education setting is crucial.

Salary: Competitive salary commensurate with experience
