Research Seminar with Assoc. Prof. Chi Phan: Exploring Molecular Interfaces in Energy and Mineral Engineering

We are pleased to invite you to a research seminar titled “Molecular Interfaces in Energy and Mineral Engineering: From Theory to Industry”, presented by Associate Professor Dr. Chi Phan from Curtin University, Australia.

📍 Location: Room C202, VinUniversity

📅 Date and Time: 15:00 – 17:00, May 14, 2025

👥 Expected attendance: 30 participants

About the Speaker

Asso. Prof. Dr. Chi Phan is a leading expert in Chemical Engineering with over 20 years of experience in both academic research and industrial consulting. Currently based at Curtin University, his research focuses on chemical and mineral processing systems. He is internationally renowned for his foundational contributions to the theory of surfactant adsorption at the air–water interface, having developed several widely cited models in this field.

With more than 130 peer-reviewed publications and over 100 international presentations, Assoc.Prof Chi Phan has played a pivotal role in advancing the understanding of liquid interfaces. His achievements have earned him over $2 million in competitive research grants, and in 2024, he was listed among the top 2% of scientists worldwide in the Stanford/Elsevier global rankings for Chemical Physics. His impact is also recognized in the ScholarGPS® rankings, placing him in the top 2% in both Chemical Engineering and interfacial science.

Seminar Overview

This seminar will explore the critical role of soft interfaces in energy and mineral engineering. New connections are being drawn between microscopic phenomena and large-scale industrial processes such as heat and mass transfer. The seminar will present recent breakthroughs, discuss ongoing challenges, and outline a future vision for applying interfacial science to sustainable energy and mineral technologies.
