Join Us for a Research Seminar by Prof. Joseph Halpern from Cornell University

We are excited to invite our colleagues and students to an insightful research seminar by the esteemed Prof. Joseph Halpern from Cornell University.

Topic: Distributed Computing Meets Game Theory: Fault Tolerance and Implementation with Cheap Talk
Date and Time: Wednesday, November 06, 2024 | 3:30PM – 5:00PM
Venue: C203, VinUni

Abstract:
Prof. Halpern will explore the intersection of distributed computing and game theory, focusing on the development of (k,t)-robust protocols that tolerate coalitions of rational and malicious players. The talk will delve into how cryptographic and distributed computing methods can achieve mediator implementation using “cheap talk”, correcting and expanding upon prior game theory results.

About Prof. Joseph Halpern:
Prof. Halpern, a distinguished academic with a B.Sc. from the University of Toronto and a Ph.D. from Harvard, has held significant roles at MIT, IBM, and Stanford before joining Cornell. With over 360 technical publications and several prestigious awards, including the Dijkstra Prize and Gödel Prize, he is a leading expert in reasoning about knowledge, distributed computation, and game theory.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from a pioneer in the field. Please RSVP to confirm your attendance.
