[WORKSHOP RECAP] TRAINING COURSE: “MATHS BEHIND AI MODELS”

When Google (as well as Microsoft, and Facebook) continuously lays off thousands of software engineer and coding team every month,it raises an important question: “What should we learn or do in the age of ML/AI ?”.

This is the main reason why the training course “Maths behind AI models” has been organized. Inspiringly we have succeeded in transforming to researchers, students two key notes:

1. At this time, editing and running a complex script (containing hundreds of lines) could be easily done by one click. Pytorch’s coding libraries are now almost completely developed and more importantly it’s open access.
2. The core problem of ML/AI today lies in the data pre-processing stage: converting all physical signal into numerical information so that computers can learn and work. This is specific to each type of database and requires either the “knowledge” or “know-how” of scientists/researchers in their narrow fields.

More than 40 lecturers, researcher, graduated students from several universities and organizations: Vin University (VinUni), HaNoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), HaNoi University of Pharmacy (HUP),  Hanoi National University of Education (HUE), Hanoi University of Science (HUS) have registered, attended and excited in what they have obtained in this class.

Mr. Võ Tự Đức (Google Workspace Developer Expert) has appreciatively commented, when he had a change to join us: “AI without computer is what we should learn urgently”.

On May 13-14-15, 2025, the training course titled “MATHS BEHIND AI MODELS” took place successfully in Room C202 at VinUniversity, Hanoi, instructed by Professor Nguyễn Minh Thọ (KU Leuven) and Dr. Nguyễn Sỹ Tuân.
