Franconomics 2024: VinUni’s Vision for Environmental Innovation
At Franconomics 2024, Professor Laurent El Ghaoui, Scientific Director of the Center for Environmental Intelligence (CEI) at VinUni, delivered an inspiring presentation that outlined the university’s bold vision. He highlighted VinUni’s commitment to becoming a leader in education, research, and innovation, emphasizing its focus on building Vietnam’s workforce and creating sustainable solutions to address key societal challenges.
Professor El Ghaoui presented several initiatives that reflect VinUni’s dedication to environmental sustainability. He underscored the crucial role of renewable energy in shaping Vietnam’s future and explored how green growth strategies could simultaneously combat climate change and promote economic progress.
He showcased two innovative projects currently in progress at VinUni. The first, an advanced digital twin initiative, creates virtual models of environmental systems, enabling researchers to simulate and refine environmental management strategies in real-time. This technology improves the prediction of environmental impacts and optimizes resource management. The second project is centered on smart charging infrastructure, aiming to accelerate electric vehicle adoption in Vietnam through intelligent charging systems that balance grid demand and enhance renewable energy use.
Professor El Ghaoui also emphasized the importance of engaging young people in sustainability efforts. He highlighted ÉCOJEUNES 2024, a competition designed to inspire young innovators to develop creative solutions for environmental challenges. He stressed that fostering youth leadership in sustainability is key to creating a lasting, positive environmental impact.
Throughout his presentation, Professor El Ghaoui emphasized the synergy between academic excellence, technological innovation, and environmental responsibility, positioning VinUni as a driving force for sustainable development in Vietnam and beyond.
