Biography
Professor Ta Ngoc Tan, is an educator, researcher, and political theorist who has made significant contributions to the development of journalism, communications, and political science in Vietnam. He formerly served as Permanent Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council.
Over more than four decades of academic work and educational administration, he held a number of senior leadership positions in education, research, and policymaking. These included Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Review, the theoretical and political journal of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam; President and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics; member of the 10th and 11th Central Committees of the Communist Party of Vietnam; and deputy to the 12th National Assembly. Prior to these appointments, he spent many years teaching and conducting research at the Academy of Journalism and Communication, where he contributed to the education and training of generations of Vietnamese journalists, lecturers, and media researchers.
He is the author or co-author of approximately 20 books and more than 50 scholarly articles published in Vietnamese and international journals. He has also served as principal investigator for numerous state-level research projects. His most recent major project was the compilation of the Encyclopedia of Journalism and Publishing.
