Dr. Young Un Kim brings a wealth of research, teaching, and industry experience from her work across Australia, China, South Korea, and the United States. Before her appointment at Vin University’s CBM group, Young held academic positions at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China and UNSW Sydney, where she taught various strategy and management courses. She received her PhD degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Strategic Management & Entrepreneurship), a Master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University (Electronic Commerce), a Bachelor’s degree from Kyunghee University (Business Administration and International Commerce), and a PGCHE degree from the University of Nottingham.
Young’s research explores the intersection of strategic management and corporate governance (ESG), with focuses on shareholder activism, stakeholder relationships, international business, and business ecosystems. Her research has been published in Corporate Governance: An International Review (CGIR – best paper of the year award), Management Business Review (MBR), and Industrial Management & Data Systems (IMDS), and she has won numerous best paper awards at conferences, including AoM 2016, SMS 2023, and AIB 2024.
Young enjoys teaching at all levels—PhD, Executive Education, MBA, Master’s, and undergraduate—where her teaching philosophy is to stimulate self-learning through critical thinking. Additionally, Young has worked in Samsung’s Telecommunication division and as a business consultant for nonprofit organizations. She currently consults for various businesses in South Korea and Vietnam.
