People – Prof. Derk Pereboom

Prof. Derk Pereboom

Prof. Derk Pereboom is Susan Linn Sage Professor of Philosophy and Ethics, Arts & Sciences Senior Associate Dean for Arts & Humanities. His research is primarily on free will and moral responsibility and in philosophy of mind. He also works in early modern philosophy, especially on the philosophy of Immanuel Kant, and in philosophy of religion. He teaches courses in each of these areas

People – Dr. Mike Perkins

Dr. Mike Perkins

Dr. Mike Perkins is the Head of the Centre for Research & Innovation and a Senior Lecturer in the School of Business at the British University Vietnam, Vietnam. He holds a PhD in Management from the University of York, where he explored performance management in local policing services. His current research focuses on performance management, academic integrity, and the impact of Generative AI (GenAI) technologies in academia, particularly concerning HEI policy responses to these advancements. He is the university lead for the integration of GenAI policies into BUV and has provided training and guidance to Vietnamese educators and policy makers on this topic.

Chi Thanh Vi

Dr. Chi Thanh Vi

Dr. Chi Thanh Vi is a Lecturer at the School of Computer Science and Engineering, International University, Vietnam. He received his PhD in Computer Science in 2014 and his MSc in Computer Science in 2008, both from the University of Bristol, UK. Dr Vi serves as an Associate Editor of two prominent journals in the field of Human-Computer Interaction. His research interests focus on Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience (UI/UX) design, Brain-Computer Interface, Multisensory Interaction, and Experimental Psychology. His publications have received over 1000 citations, with an h-index of 17 and an h-10 index of 20 (Google Scholar).

Professor K. David Harrison

Professor K. David Harrison

Prof. Harrison earned his M.A. and PhD at Yale University. He is a National Geographic Society Explorer, a Fellow of the Explorer’s Club, a member of the Daylight Academy (Switzerland), and an honorary research associate at the New York Botanical Garden’s Center for Economic Botany. He used to work at Swarthmore College as Associate Provost for Academic Programs and Professor of Linguistics and Cognitive Science. Prof. Harrison is also a filmmaker. Throughout his career, and in his role as a National Geographic Explorer, Prof. Harrison has travelled the world to make films and write books on the topic of Endangered languages and Indigenous cultures.

Dr. Nghiem Xuan Huy

Dr. Nghiem Xuan Huy holds the position of Director at the Institute for Education Quality Assurance, affiliated with Vietnam National University, Hanoi. His academic foundation is in Library and Information Science, with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Vietnam National University, Hanoi in 1999. Advancing his education, he earned a Master's degree in Information Studies from the University of South Australia in 2005, followed by a Ph.D. in Communication and Information Studies at the same university in 2012, under the prestigious Australian Leadership Award scholarship from the Australian Government. In 2023, Dr. Huy was honored with the title of Associate Professor by Vietnam’s National Council for Professorship.
