No. There is only one form for all applicants to VinUni. You can select the program that you wish to pursue. You can select up to three programs and tell us your order of preference. When we evaluate your application, we will first assess if you might be a good fit for the program of your first choice. If our faculty believe that your interests and talents may be better suited for another program that is your second or third choice, we will offer you that choice.

  • We understand that this can be a difficult choice to make, especially since you most likely don’t know what the particular program entails or what the careers or opportunities in those fields might be like. We invite you to learn more about these programs by visiting the VinUni website https://vinuni.edu.vn/. If you are unsure of the program but have an idea of the College that you wish to attend, you have the option to apply “Undecided” in the College of Business and Management and College of Engineering and Computer Science. We will do our best to coach and guide you in making the final decision when the time comes to do so.
  • At VinUni we believe in choices and flexibility: choices for students even after they have made one already. If after a semester or two at VinUni you decide that the program that you are in, is not right for you, we will work with you to find one that fuels your passion and helps you be successful.

The Early Admission cycle is for those applicants who have a keen desire to attend VinUni, and would like to have an assurance of getting into VinUni at the earliest opportunity.

All applicants who meet the minimum eligibility threshold but are not successful in the Early Admission cycle will be automatically added to the pool of applicants in the Regular Admission cycle.

The Regular Admission cycle will involve the same review process as Early Admission.

It is common for applicants to complete their applications over a period of time. You can start your application any time after the online admissions are open, add information, save the changes as many times as you would like, and submit it when you are ready. If your application is missing compulsory information the system will guide you and not allow you to submit the application . Once you submit your application, you cannot make any more changes.

To ensure that each applicant is subject to the same rules, applications cannot be submitted after the deadline. Remember to save your application often as you are working on it. To avoid any last-minute glitches with the document upload, internet connectivity, and other unforeseen circumstances, we recommend that you submit your application at least 3-4 days in advance of the deadline.

No. Your submitted form is considered final and you will not be able to make any further changes. Please be sure to double-check the application that it has accurate information and is complete. The quality of your application is our first look at you as a candidate for VinUni. Of course, if you forgot to add a document or need to upload an updated version of your document, you can let us know. We will send the application back to you in the “Amendment” status and you can add the information that you want. Make sure that you submit your application back to us so that we can review it.

  • Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is your class grade at the end of each year as reflected in your transcripts. You will need to share your overall GPA for grades 10 and 11. Upload your transcripts with your application, so we can understand your scores clearly. If you have your overall GPA for the first semester of grade 12, please submit it also.
  • Your GPA scale is determined by what type of school you go to. The majority of schools in Vietnam use the 10.0-point scale, so your overall GPAs will be out of 10. Some private or international schools use a different scale e.g. 4.0-scale. You may have attended two different schools with different scales. Please select the appropriate scale for your overall GPA for each year.
  • Some curricula may not assign an overall GPA. In that case, you can select the option in the online application.

If you have taken any of these tests please do provide them as they will be considered along with the other aspects of your profile. You need strong academic performance, but more importantly, strong personal qualities. You especially need to have dreams, passion, a creative way of thinking, and perseverance. The university’s admission process is holistic, so even in the absence of excellent academic performance, you may still stand a chance to receive an offer for the many strong qualities which matter.

All selected students to VinUniversity fully meet the 4 AACC criteria, which are:

This quality is about your vision and way of thinking about life and reflecting on what you do; it is not about  words on a page but about the true journey of your personal growth and discovery.

C – Creativity: Creative thinking

This quality is not only present in art but in each of your inventions when you think outside the box and explore new directions.

C – Commitment: Resilience

It is the determination to never back down from difficulties, to always see challenges as an opportunity to learn and rise, and to constantly take action to improve oneself and the surrounding environment.

Like famous universities in the world, VinUniversity examines and evaluates candidates with a comprehensive and holistic approach, not just based on academic exam grades. Thus, besides studying well, applicants will have an advantage if they actively participate in extracurricular activities, community projects, or have other strong qualities in arts and sports… At the same time, they will also need to be able to communicate in English because VinUniversity’s environment is an English-language learning environment.

Yes. With the Work-Study program, VinUniversity students will be able to work at the university from freshman year, with a maximum salary of VND 5,000,000 net/month.

Students can take on different positions such as research assistants, interns at VinUniversity departments such as the Provost’s Office, Library, Admissions & Marketing Department, Information Technology Department, Business Cooperation Department, Student Affairs Management Department,…

In addition, students will get to practice and improve their time management skills, financial management skills and communication skills. These valuable experiences will help them make the right career choices and enhance their career prospects in the future. The Work-Study program is quite popular among universities around the world and VinUniversity is proud to be the pioneer in implementing this program for its students right from freshman  year.

Certainly. However, no one is born knowing how to start a business, so the faculty will provide the best support for students to start a business through various methods and programs. Examples include training programs, competitions, startup incubator funding programs as well as startup accelerator funding programs.

With the direction to be a university of innovation and entrepreneurship, VinUniversity established the Entrepreneurship Lab (E Lab) similar to many international universities’ models for entrepreneurship, such as those at Cornell University and MIT University of Technology, USA.

Right from the moment they enter the university, VinUniversity freshmen have their entrepreneurial mindsets cultivated through the Agile Innovation Course, which provides foundational knowledge about entrepreneurship. At the end of the Agile Innovation course, students will participate in a 36-hour Hackathon, where students from different Colleges work together in groups to come up with a startup idea for a specific product. The projects with the most potential will be closely mentored by E-Lab’s advisors with weekly support for idea development. When the idea is fully ready, students will be given funds of 2,000 USD/project to test their incubation phase in the Incubator Program. The most outstanding projects will be selected for the Acceleration round with more support and funding up to 10,000 USD/team. E-Lab’s advisors are all current entrepreneurs/managers, co-founders and C-level leaders at Finhay, MoMo, Amazon Web Services…

In particular, with such an opportunity to study and live in a community of excellent students from many different fields, VinUniversity students can find partners – “Co-Founders” – to accompany them to future success.

Of course. The faculty encourages students to do research and believes that research is an important avenue for cultivating systematic thinking, scientific mindset, and integrity.

With the current “golden” ratio of lecturers and professors to students of 1/7, right from freshman year, VinUniversity students are offered the opportunity to participate in research projects alongside their lecturers as Research Assistants and receive compensation under the Work-Study program. In addition, students are also supported and funded by the faculty to carry out their independent research projects, where the students accumulate research credits in the transcript as elective subjects instead of receiving financial compensation.

In addition, VinUniversity students can join as research assistants at VinUni-Illinois Smart Health Center (VISHC), to carry out top-notch research projects that have an impact on the lives of millions of people under the guidance of leading professors in the field from VinUniversity and the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign (UIUC).

One of the special offerings of VinUni is that students can participate in research with professors and lecturers right from freshman year. Not many universities in the world can offer such a privilege. Instead of just being acquirers of knowledge, when “embedded” in a real-world research environment from early on, students can directly learn, discover, and verify their understanding to master the process of creating new knowledge while gaining early access to the latest knowledge in many fields.

Many research projects with the participation of VinUniversity students have been published in journals of the Q1 group, and a number of independent research projects of VinUniversity students have been funded by the faculty to speed up their process, including a research project on HPV vaccine, the quality of sleep of postpartum women in Vietnam, or the Quality of Life (QoL) of Vietnamese women patients diagnosed with urogenital prolapse post-treatment…

Yes. At the end of each academic year, students should actively submit a Self-Assessment Report on: (1) Academic performance, (2) Other achievements/activities that reflect VinUniversity’s core values (EXCEL), and (3) Personal aspirations for scholarships. Through this information, combined with an assessment of disciplinary violations during the course of study, the university will consider maintaining, increasing or lowering your scholarship to the most appropriate level. In these reports, if you can showcase your outstanding academic ability, excellent extracurricular achievements, and the ability to influence and inspire others, you have a chance to receive a higher level of scholarship for the next period of study.

During the course of your study, if you and your family experience a major event impacting your financial conditions, please submit a Financial Aid Review Request, outlining the reasons for applying for an increase of financial support (for example, unexpected expenses, sudden loss of job, sudden death of parents, etc.). The faculty will consider increasing the level of support based on this request. In case your family’s financial conditions do not change significantly, you do not need to apply every year. Your current financial aid will automatically renew, provided that you maintain an academic rating of Average or higher. (ie GPA from 2.0) and continuously demonstrate personal qualities while having no record of serious violations of student regulations.

In addition, if you are confident about your outstanding growth in achievements, academic results as well as the ability to make an impact on the broader community, do not hesitate to apply for a Scholarship for the upcoming academic year.

Your scholarship will automatically be maintained for the next academic year, if your academic ranking stays at GPA 2.5 (for 90% scholarship) and 3.2 GPA (for 100% and Full-aid scholarship) or higher, while continuing to demonstrate outstanding and excellent ability without serious violations of student regulations. In case the above mentioned requirements are not met to maintain the Scholarship, the School will evaluate your demonstration of the EXCEL core values to determine your Scholarship status.
