1 to 2 years of research exchange overseas
100% of Ph.D students have the opportunity to conduct research for 1 to 2 years at a partner university including: University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC); Cornell University; University of California, Berkeley… under the 1.100 scholarships program of Vingroup. This program will cover all tuition fees, living expense, health insurance, round-trip airfare, and related expenses for qualified Ph.D students. Select Ph.D. students can also enroll in joint PhD programs with UIUC and University of Technology, Sydney (UTS).

Dr. Khoa D. Doan is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science in the in the College of Engineering and Computer Science at VinUniversity. He has extensive applied and research experience, working at various world-renowned research labs such as Baidu Research, Criteo AI Lab, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, and University of Maryland, College Park. His papers have been published in the top-tier Computer Vision, Machine Learning and Data Mining conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, NeurIPS, SIGIR, WWW, and CIKM.

Prof. Thuc-Quyen Nguyen is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) and the Co-Chair of the VinFuture Prize's Pre-Screening Committee. Her current research interests are electronic properties of conjugated polyelectrolytes, interfaces in optoelectronic devices, charge generation and transport in organic semiconductors, new materials for organic solar cell applications, molecular self-assemblies, materials processing, nanoscale characterization of organic solar cells, and device physics. In her scientific career, she has received many prestigious awards. Notably, Prof. Quyen was voted the World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds from 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. Yes. The program will select excellent students from prestigious universities who earned a Bachelor's Degree with Excellence and Distinction. In these cases, in addition to joining research projects as part of the Ph.D. Program in Computer Science, students will take additional courses in VinUniversity's Master of Innovation in Artificial Intelligence program. These extra courses will incur additional fees and students are advised to discuss with their guiding Professors to come up with an appropriate financial plan.
