“VinUni Gives Me a Sense of Belonging”

September 20, 2022

“People at VinUni know how to lend an empathetic ear to others’ stories and respect the differences, which is why I always feel a great sense of belonging to this community”, Nguyen Canh Huy, a second-year student at the College of Engineering and Computer Science, proudly shared.

Canh Huy has been actively participating in many extracurricular activities in school. For example, he is currently a core member of the Student Council. Huy thinks the Winter Festival has left an indelible impression on him among other school events.

Although the planning and practicing took just over 2 weeks, more than 80 students from clubs and choirs were ready to participate and support the organizer to make a memorable event. Huy believed that “nothing is impossible as long as VinUnians unite and collaborate.”

Despite having only completed his first year, Huy now finds himself more mature and confident, particularly in his communication skills. “I used to feel shy when I had to share my personal opinions in front of a crowd. However,  the student-centric teaching methods at VinUni have provided students with opportunities and chances to develop their soft skills. The faculty and professors are always helpful and ready to support us outside of class hours.”

In the next school year, Canh Huy plans to prioritize his academic studies and research. At the same time, he will also actively contribute to bringing VinUnians memorable and meaningful experiences at the Student Council. At the edge of the new academic year, Canh Huy wants to send the new cohort a message: “Just believe in yourself. The Student Council will always be by your side in the upcoming journey.”
